Looking for some opinions...I am leaning a certain way and want to see what the consensus is.
Currently have 8.25 27 spline geared to 4.10's. New lockright and Yukon shafts ready for installation (some day!) Truck is a weekend/camping jeep...no trails over "6" rating...but needs some traction.
Is the P-trax no-slip considerably better than the lock right in driveability terms on the street? I know they both function the same when locked under acceleration and I understand that the lockright will ratchet more around corners since it doesn't have the syncro ring and active spacer. Any reason why I should consider the lockright over the No-slip? Less functioning/breakable parts maybe?
Reason I am asking: I recently bought a used 29 spline No-slip in hopes of finding some 29 spline stock shafts and carrier cheap, and pay someone to set the backlash for me.
Is it worth it just to keep the 27 spline setup, install it myself, and call it done? From the research I have done, the Yukon 27's have the same break strength (or better) than the stock 29's. Regardless, I am not heavy on the skinny pedal...just hope I never have to deal with a break.
Just looking for some opinions from those who have run either locker on a DD vehicle. Which setup would you do? I am already invested in both setups...so I need a good direction.
