Hi everybody!

For all of those forum stalkers like me close to the Miami Valley area, the Miami Valley Council for Native Americans is hosting their annual Pow-Wow at Sunwatch Indian Villiage this weekend, June 23 and 24. It's a great event that raises awareness for the presence of the Native American community and provides a place for these traditions to be experienced instead of just read about in the history books. Several years ago, I was adopted into the Lakota Sioux tribe from Standing Rock Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and that's how I got involved in this unique tradition. Honestly, it's unlike anything I've ever been to, and it really gave me a new respect for the Native American community here in Ohio and abroad. The basics are listed below, and the link for more info, maps, etc is 2007 Keeping the Tradition Pow Wow.

The grounds where the Pow Wow is being held is one of the oldest Native American sites in the country, with a webpage here: Sunwatch Indian Village.

When: June 23 and 24, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Where: Sunwatch Indian Village, Dayton OH
Why: Because it's awesome
Cost: $6 Adults, Kids 12 and under FREE

Food, Vendors, and Events all day - Hope to see some of you there. I'll be the long-haired white kid with the huge mutton chops and goatee - any questions, just ask.
