porc hd SYE opinions?

all you guys that are running an SYE, did you shim your axle to point up towards the transfer case?

i've got about 3" in the rear and some vibes at some speeds, not crazy or anything, just annoying, but i have longer shackles that would in theory possibly add a slight 'shim' upwards of the pinion angle. any thoughts on the necessity of an angled shim for 3" or so of lift?

theyre awesome..installed a couple and never had any problems. cant beat the price. and as far as the driveshaft question goes. size wise it doesn't seem like the stock ones would be as strong, but ive never seen, or heard of one breaking..quite a few tom woods can be found broken though with a quick search

I'm new here. I just found this site. I was just looking through some older posts on SYE's. I see everyone is saying to use an auto front drive shaft on the rear. My XJ is a 5-speed. The 5-speed front drive shaft seems to be a couple inches shorter. That would mean that the t-case sits further forward in the vehicle. Wouldn't that mean that a 5-speed XJ with a SYE wouldn't be able to use a stock front drive shaft on the rear because it would be too short? Anyone have any experience with a 5-speed XJ and SYE?

Yes ,it only works with the autos(not even sure about D35's).

That sucks. I have a perfect almost new front drive shaft out of a wrecked XJ that I wanted to use for this. With an auto XJ, how high can you go before the front drive shaft on the rear becomes too short?

I am on 4.5-5" lift AW4/D44 and use a front shaft. Works great and dirt cheap. D35 is a bit longer but there is lots of room on the sliding part of the shaft for a longer pinion snout. I use about 6 deg of shim.

PORC is having some real problems and treating some customers like dirt. Read the pirate thread below.

Its really a shame. I like the PORC SYE and other other items I got from them, good price, good service (when I bought my stuff) but something has definitely changed for the worse. Even the AA folks posted up in a very understated and professional way on this. Read the thread.

Well I cannot comment on the SYE, but I hope you get better customer service than I have. So far, I have sent five e-mails and two phone messages in an attempt to get two Hella headlights that I ordered on 17 December 2008. The first set went to Michigan. (I live in California) The second set I was given a tracking number activated on 23 December 2008 and to date the USPS has yet to receive the items to ship to me. I just sent another e-mail to follow up. So far their customer service has not impressed me. I hope you do better. I had heard good things about PORC, so I hope this is a fluke.

Well, a minor update, in that I got my headlights from PORC last night.
