Poor MPG and no HP at high RPM.

For the past couple of weeks I've noticed that my Jeep has been getting horrible MPG and everytime I got up to a high RPM there was a dramatic drop in horsepower, so dramatic that the transmition would not up shift to the next gear. I simply attributed this to the high summer heat we have here in Texas and thought nothing of it really, until I was driving out of town and I noticed that I had a tough time keeping my Jeep above 65mph and if I was going up a hill larger than a bump in the road my Jeep would drop down to 50mph even at full throttle. Obviously something was very wrong. I got to where I was going and checked all my fluids, all OK. The only thing I could think of was that either I had developed a serious timing issue, I had a fuel delivery problem, or that something was blocking my exhaust. Since I had no strange pings or noises at high RPM's I ruled out a timing issue, and since I was running neither rich nor lean I ruled out the fuel issue. The only thing left was a blocked exhaust. I cut off the exhaust between the muffler and the cat, and what did I find? A chunk of that honeycomb stuff from the cat that was completely blocking the pipe. Broke it loose and voila, all my Hp is back.
