Polishing a turd......

Well, I guess I shouldn't call it a "turd", but the ugly 'ol Ford did clean up nice. Amazing what a decent set of tires and wheels will do for a truck huh?

It had a busted spring pack on the driver's rear too. The bed was tweaked way down on the right rear corner and I was afraid the frame was bent, but I replaced that spring pack and it's straight as can be.

Pretty much got all the bugs worked out of it, but it's still starving for fuel at higher RPM's. Gonna replace the mechanical fuel pump tomorrow to see if that helps.... I'm hoping it's not the fuel distributor/injection pump.... $$$

Still wouldn't give up my Dodge though........ :D

If I knew body work I'd probably replace that damaged rocker area...... but for resale value, I suppose it looks better to have the old wrinkled stuff there with matching paint instead of a straight door and fender and hammered-out rocker all in primer....:dunno:

Damn near ready to put 'er on the market.......

Why primer? Why not get paint in spray cans premixed from someone like www.paintscratch.com and go with that, or you have a compressor, get a cheap HF trim gun and paint it, won't be perfect but I bet it'll look better than it does now.
I have a cheapie trim gun you can borrow, the nozzle is too small for primer but it worked fine to paint my engine bay, or I'm sure someone here has a nice HVLP gun.

or is the rocker itself fuxored or would a new door skin hide most of the damage? That was a popular color I bet you could find a matching.

Yeah, the thought of fixing the damage and painting it myself was part of the original plan, but the truck is a bit on the rusty side and would require quite a bit of work to repair that rocker. If I was keeping it, I'd invest the time, but I doubt I'd see enough $$$ return for my efforts.... it's a work truck, and I don't want to eat too deep into my profit on the project for what it's worth on the market. I did get a door and fender already to go with it should the new owner want 'em.

I've seen that truck and thought it was nice compaired to my 98 Chevy.

I can play that game...im gonna be needing a tow rig sometime in the not too distant future :D

Thinking the same thing here. My jeep is about paid off and I want a truck again and something that I can use to Tow with if need be.

Wow, you guys actually want a Ford? :D

Well, let's see....... Kelly Blue Book puts the private party value of this truck in "fair" condition at $3,600.

Let the bidding begin......... :D

Seriously, if any of you is seriously considering it, come on by and take a look at it/drive it..... make me an offer. Otherwise, I'm throwing it to the Craigslist masses in a couple weeks.

BTW, I just replaced the fuel pump and that made a noticeable difference in the high RPM power. The old one was still painted International gray..... yeah, a 196K mile fuel pump probably needed replaced huh? Gonna change the oil in it soon as well.

It's not that I "WANT" a ford it's more of what I can afFORD.

196k on a stock fuel pump ya thats impressive.

More of a GMC or Dodge guy but the Used Ford market is flooded with better prices.

Exactamundo...I'de LOVE a Dodge CTD, but im gonna have to settle for an older ford. All I will be needing is something to haul the jeep to and from the trails in the future. Sad thing is, by the time im done with the jeep, I could have had half of brand new truck paid off...:(

If it's not one thing it's going to be another thats going to take your money.
