I need a day on the trails so I am going to do the Poker Flat http://4x4trailmaps.com/4x4Trails.php?Trail_ID=46 run this Sunday.
A moderate run with a lot of great views and photo opps :photo: of the Sierra Butts. I am going to stop by and see Mike at the Saddle back fire lookout :flame: on the way for a minute then push on through to Poker Flat with a stop somewhere along the way for lunch.

If you want to go lets meet at the Downieville pizza place that serves buffet breakfast ready to go at 9:30am. ;)

The 29 mile run takes about 5 to 6 hours to do. You start on Hwy 49 but you can take Hwy 99 back to the Sacramento area at the end so it should not be a long day.

Well we are still doing this run this Sunday and are eating breakfast in Downieville before taking off at 9:30 for Poker Flat.
This is my shake down before Sierra Fest next week so I will have some time to make any additions before we go.
Should be a fun day with a lighting show in the higher elevations.

Got my SOLID diff covers on and I am ready as I am going to be for SF 2012 so I am going out tomorrow in the thunderstorms to make sure everything is tighten down and ready to go.
I will try to put up pictures when I get back.

We will see if there is anything left when we get to Saddleback Fire Lookout. Hope to catch some good views while we are up there.

how was the run ? pics?

The run was great as the weather turned for the best and the rain that happened overnight kept the dust down.
We were a group of two and my buddies Toyota still needs a lot of work but did everything that was asked of it without any problems.
Here are some pics of the day.

Next up Sierra fest, camping at Hermit Valley and meeting everyone.

I have done all I can before we go to make sure it will be as trouble free as possible but I am sure I will find out what still needs to be done.

We can't wait to get there as it will be 100* + here this weekend so what better way to get out of the heat and have some fun?

I love Poker Flat...What a beautiful trail. I havent been in about a decade now, but it will always stand out as one of the trails with the most distant views. Good camping down in the tall trees by the old house, very quiet.
