wheeled all day, noticed pinion leakin a tiny bit, drove home it was ok, then got a call friend was stuck, went back out there, then on the way home sounded like a train starting off. so i checked when i got home, and the d shaft moved up and down a bit, pulled the cover to expect metal to fall out, but its clean.
im thinkin its the pinion bearing? it was leakin earlier so i dont know, any chance it could just have loosened the pinon nut? that what i was thinkin first. thanks

3 hours on a Saturday and you have't gotten a reply... boy do we suck.
Anyways your problem sounds like one of those pesky ones that you actually have to take it appart to have a look see. Sounds like a bearing though.

haha, i was gettin impatient. i tightened the pinion nut and i think thats all it was, play is gone, and it was loose, not where i could move it by hand, but with ratchet i was able to give it a few turns
