Hey guys take a look at my pinion angle. I have the SYE and DS installed. most if not all vibes are gone i have more of a "tire" sound like i am running swamppers but not that loud. I think most of the noise is coming from the front D-30LP. First off so you know i have been told i worry about little things to much or one may say a bit anal...lol anyway I have the 4DEG shims from RE should i put them on or does this look good to you guys? My heep is my DD and weekend wheeler so i would like to keep the driveline in great shape for the long drive to and from wheeling spots. Let me say i am a bit nervous about driveline angle due to owning a YJ that was not lifted correctly and one big jump at Silver lake turned into a day of trying to get the driveline back just to get home. Enough of my going on heres the picture.

With my limited knowledge I would say it looks pretty good. When you accel the pinion will point a little higher due to axle wrap.
Thanks for the imput i was thinking the same things. I read on Tom Woods site that it should be 3 deg negitive to take into effect the axel wrap.

Doesnt look to bad. Your pinion angle should be a couple degrees negitive. Since on accleration your pinion drives itself up a couple degrees.

just a thought. but it looks like you're dealing with the same thing I am. Thats about exaclty what my pinion looks like after the SYE went on. I'm exploring the possibility of my DS being too short, thus putting a little strain on the u joints causing a little vibe. I have just about no droop and almost 3" of up travel.

From the looks of yours, you still have a good inch or more of droop. IDK. Just my (usually wrong) 2 cents.

If it vibes....its wrong.

Does it vibe?

well sort of....when i put the lift on it was very very bad..so bad between 20 to 30 it looked like parts would vibrate off. Now it is great just a very tiny bit between the same MPH if any... I am wondering if it is just me being anal about it. I think i need to meet up with some of you more experianced guys and let you drive it. I was thinking about taking the front DS off this weekend and seeing if it is coming from there being the u-joints have almost 80,000 on them and i never disconnected it while i installed the lift. i did not want to shim unless i had to and the guys as helpful as they were at RE said some need them some do not. I am just wondering if what i feel is just the raod crap being the springs have only a 100 miles on them and 75 of that is at 40 mph or less. there is nothing at all over 40 and it is so smooth you can take your hands off the wheel at 60 and it just goes right down the road.

Just swap in the 242 T-case and you will be fine lol.
you love those 242's..you trying to seel one..lol j/k. i have a 242 you must also in the waggy. so with your 3" and 242 you did not get any vibes with the stock shaft? after i put the RE 3.5 on i got 4" total and my stock Slip yoke was almost all the way off the 242 output shaft. So i went right to the RE HNT and RE DS . the differance was night and day. Prob being to cautious.

well Rev I was in a bit of denial. I just could not belive that after a RE 3.5 I would need an SYE and axel shims. but as you asked does it vibe? yes it did a lot no but i knew it was there, so this weekend i put some 4 deg shims in the rear and WOOOOOO WHOOOOOO now my heep is smoooooooooooooth...I can not belive how much of a differance that made but boy does she drive out nice now. Thanks everyone for the advise. This is what the pinion looks like now...about perfect i would say.
