I know I'm kind of beating a dead horse !!!1 but I was on Ebay looking for performance items for the 90 XJ, I saw various performance chips that claimed to increase horse power and acceleration, and gas mileage. All of them varied in prices, my question is would it be worth the money to buy one, even the cheapest one is $50. Would there be any difference? I have a 90 xj, so its a Renix motor. Has anyone ever put one on their cherokee whether it be Renix or OBD-I or OBD-II? Was there a noticable difference?

Its not hard to install a chip but what they clame are not really true. at the most 2hp gain at the most but you have to upgrade more to acomplish it. like Cold Air Intake and Cat back exhaust.

i saw an article about those cheap performance "chips" break open the cheap ones and all you see are two soldered wires... dont know why they do this but according to the article it does nothing for performance.

the only valid ones, you wont find on Ebay....

Jet chips, Hypertech programmers, superchips....they are all valid, but you wont see any huge gains....the best thing my hypertech programmer is good for is reading and clearing DTCs. I'm hoping once i stroke my 4.0L, i might notice more of a difference.
