hey guys , i have a 96 xj with a 4.7 hesco built motor , banks headers ,full 3in exhaust , pritty much the works if u wanna say . i had a jet perfomance stage 2 chip in it , well i was hosing out the engine compartment after one hell of a week end at paragon and i got water in the connector of the chip and fried it . now ive bin driving it around for the past three weeks with out the chip and i noticed a decent amount of loss of power with out the chip . soo i wanna get another chip the ? is witch one should i get is there a better one to get for what i have done to the engine to get the maxx amount of power .

Well - lets see ..

If the one you had before worked SO well before you toasted it... why wouldn't you replace it with the same brand ? ? ?

Because he wanted to know which other options were out there.

So far he's got 'buy a dictionary' and 'try a Hypertech'. :D

They're just messing with you, don't let it get under your skin...

I'll second the Hypertech programmer. Although I have not used it myself, I know someone who has and he's pleased with the results and the multi-functionality of the unit. He did not get a 13hp gain like they claim, but it still added to his other mods and enhanced overall performance. If you are going to spend the money anyway, why not try the Hypertech, especially since the Jet Stage II is not necessarily a proven product...

Yeah, forgot to provide my experience with it. Jet II's started giving check engine lights on two different Jeeps. Those were replaced with Hypertech programmers and both run just fine now. :)

Caint you finger ut owt?

Looks like you also need a spell checker pal. ;)
Richieboy21, since the JET Stage 2 worked so well for you, why not just get another one?
The Hypertech is meant for a stock or a near stock 4.0 so it won't be optimal for a stroker.
You could opt for the Apexi SAFC 2 to program the fuel curves though the timing curves will remain stock. If you want to reprogram both the fuel curves and timing curves on a laptop with the Jeep running on a load dyno, you could go for the Split Second FTC-1, Perfect Power SMT-6, or the Unichip.

yea i know hes just messin with me but still u guys seem to do that every time i post something . well anyway im not looking to spend around a thousand on a notebook for my jeep , im just looking for a better chip then the one i had. also if u guys have the web sites for what your talking about , it would help.

JET is trash.....Hypertech is designed for stock (or close to it) setups....I'd say go with an A'Pexi Super AFC-II or some other OBD2-compatible "piggyback" unit....you can program the thing to run lean when driving on the road under low-load conditions, thus improving mileage, and tune it for all-out power under other circumstances....kinda need a laptop or some other setup with a PC to switch fuel maps real-time.....PCs are based upon, as luck would have it, a 12-volt architecture, and derivatives thereof.....

EDIT: Maybe if I had actually slept last night, I wouldn't sound like Dyno's parrot.....but I expunged upon the topic a little further :)

don't get another jet. it cost me a motor. i was on the hesco site a while back, and they have a piggyback unit (i think it's the unichip) that jp mag features in an article this month. not sure but i think you need a dyno to tune it. i'd call them for more info. you already bought their stroker, so they should be pretty good to you.

I have the Jet II and I am satisfied with the results. However, the Jeep wouldn't start with the one I originally bought, so JET replaced it. My brother fried his 95 cpu with one in the past, but I think he also soaked it.

The JET chip doesn't like getting soaked with water, so that's why JET supply a strip of tarry insulation to apply over the joints to the wiring harness and the PCM to keep the water out. I've had my JET Stage 2 chip for 9 years with zero problems.

What Is The Unichip?

The Unichip is a computer that electronically resides between your car’s ECU and engine, releasing 100 percent of an engine’s untapped power. Sold worldwide for more than a decade, the Unichip is a tested and proven engine performance product used on the street, racetrack, and in off-road applications.

A Unichip installation consists of a Unichip computer module, a Plug-n-Play (PnP) wiring harness, and a performance map dyno-tuned for a specific vehicle & its components. The Unichip is a solid-state computer measuring the size and weight of a MP3 player, using multiple high-speed processors to control engine tuning & performance.

The Unichip is designed to work in virtually any vehicle – gas or diesel, normally aspirated or forced induction, import or domestic, car, truck, or SUV.

The Unichip can control fuel on any fuel-injected vehicle, and can control both timing and fuel on 90% of the vehicles ever produced with an ECU.

I have used UNICHIP, as I mentioned to Dr. Dyno.

I do not jnow how it compares to others, as I have never tried other brands...
It seems Dr. Dyno have visited the UNICHIP home page and asked for more information...
