Boy O boy, the parts stores around here really suck. All they seem to carry now a days is BLING BLING BS. Display after display of glow in the dark wiper nozzles, fake steel pedal covers, all the colors under the rainbow of wire tube, tons of fake stainless steel hose wrap in all sizes with fake AN fittings, NO speed bleeders, asked and they said 'we sold out a whole bunch of them a few weeks ago' DUH, well if you sold out that means people are buying them, maybe you ought to reorder. The one place STILL has not restocked Mobil-1 filters for the 4.0L and I commented about that to the manager 2 weeks ago, course the last 4 times I've seen him he was out at the driving range but then again, knowing his speed he was probably playing miniture golf...

I worked for one for about 3 months.

trying to satisfy customers' requests with the "resources" I had available was just plain impossible.


and on top of that, I couldn't believe how many people wasted alll kinds of $$$ on useless crap.

Yeah - it's getting harder and harder to find a local that doesn't carry "bling" crap - I'm glad I've got one. I'll keep using this parts house until I leave CA - and I'll hate to lose them.

When I open my shop, I'll probably have to have a "real" part section just to keep guys like us happy...

Parts stores have gone the way of hardware stores. They're bigger with less in them.

I keep telling all of you - find a small chain or an independent store, and use them. Should be much better than the big chain outfits, and better parts guys.

I wasted three years of my life working at Kragen's here in Santa Clara county, and I can tell you that it's just going to get worse - the only way to fix them is to change their minds - by depriving them of money. The "blingers" may spend a few bucks, but the real enthusiasts like us are where the money in the market is, and we should be able to effect the change.
