Palin Resigns!

I'm only arguing that people are going to pay more attn to her actions and words ti make sure they line up with their beliefs before voting for her than they would Megan Fox before seeing Transformers. No one's going to vote for someone simply because they're attractive.

Unless it is the Miss (Ms) America pageant.

Palin's speaking near my house in a few weeks. My girlfriend is going.

What, a humor website? I wasn't aware you meant that as a serious resource. Relax, it's only politics in a country in which you don't live. ;)

What's palin going to talk about? Quitting on Alaska?

I'm curious to hear about all of your contributions for your state......er, province?
We really need another armchair Socialist to critique our elected officials.....wait a minute, I think I just implicated most of our elected officials......

true. it's really none of my business; it was right of you to trivialize this debate my using my nationality to demean the value of my opinion.

Personally I like what Jesse Ventura said about Palin on Larry King last night. Hey he's not Canadian, maybe you should listen to him. He's not a sub-human like us canucks.

What's palin going to talk about? Quitting on Alaska?

no idea, i told the girlfriend i'd only go if palin was speaking in a bikini or less.

What's palin going to talk about? Quitting on Alaska?
What I find interesting is that when a CEO has stepped down as head of a major corporation for the same reasons as Palin has listed (too much focus on other non-related tabloid issues), people say he's doing the right thing for his company. Palin says it and because you don't like her anyways, it's a terrible idea, damn quitter.

But the fact is Palin has done more for Alaska in her partial term than many did in two full terms, and since she was brought into the spotlight is has cost the state a lot of money because of all the frivolous lawsuits filed against her.

She did a lot, it was now costing a lot of money just being there, so she got out. Alaska benefits both ways, and she can focus on other things.

Urban you write about her saying stupid stuff, have you tried to listen to Biden? As for you being an armchair socialist, I will make no judgment. However you do the circular argument, quite often. She "quit, she's a quitter" if her leaving saved Alaska money, and took the tabloid crap out of the picture, she did the right thing. It amazes me as to how you keep bringing up her looks, get over it. Point out some of the bad things she did for Alaska, besides "she's pretty". Obama is about as qualified to lead America as, say someone who's higher education was paid for by a Saudi, and who's wife got a job that did not exist, and when she quit it once again does not exist. At least Palin has a bit of actual experience with budgets. As for the comments about Ventura? He's a media whore, the only way he gets air time is when he's bashing a member of a certain political party. I try to avoid commenting on most of this crap, but really, someone in Canada, bashing someone that's against government run health care? I've worked in Canada, it's a pretty place, but for a Canadian to comment on the American political system? You should save your energy for your country. Or, at least save your energy you don't wanna get sick, and need health care.

I wouldn't say I'm going in circles... more like spinning my wheels.

First I said people showed Palin leniency, in great part, because of her looks (I even mentioned how polling indicated Palin's popularity was prominent with men). Those comments were quickly refuted, and you guys got offended. I was told that American voters are evolved enough to look past someone's appearance to judge their substance.

In rebuttal, I supplied a link with some of Palin's quotes. My intent was to show that someone of substance wouldn't make so many intellectually impaired comments. Again ,those comments were quickly refuted, and you guys got offended. I was told that the source of those quotes was a political humor site hence null and void. I stated the quotes came from reputable media outlets, but of course, no one wanted to check because it was easier to mock me.

Finally, I decided to use the only tangible fact at my disposal - that Palin's resignation is comparable to a breach of contract. That comment could not be refuted, but you guys got offended just the same. I was told to mind my own business because my kind (Canadians) don't belong here.... it's a pretty ironic considering Americans are involved in every other nations politics. I quoted Jesse Ventura (last guy I saw on CNN discussing Palin that wasn't a filthy Canuck), but in another ironic twist I was told he's a media whore (I'll let everyone absorb that for a bit when they think of Palin's upcoming media circuit). Of coarse after that I was, once again, reminded that my kind doesn't belong here. Hey, I hope you guys realize that Canadian's are everywhere... and this will make you s*** your pants... we look just like you... we even had one of our kind (David Frum) writing speechs for George W. Bush. Scary eh?

oh and BTW, I'm not an armchair socialist; I vote conservative up in America's hat. I also had the displeasure of being born in communist Poland; my family lived the real deal, so I have two words for Americans that use the word socialist like it's going out of style - save it. Save it until your groceries are dependent on ration cards, you live your life in a line-up, secret Police are listening to your convos, and your neighbors are communists that can have your family dragged from you in the middle of the night. Until that happens - save it.

well buddy, Lets work on your wheel spinning. So, Palin is an idiot because of her comments, and we only vote for her based on looks. Unplug the teleprompter and Obama will stop talking, Biden has a continuous case of diarrhea of the mouth. Bush could not make sense if he wanted to. However it's Palin that's a moron? I liked her because she did not seem to be a political elite. She's a lifetime member of the NRA, she stated what she believed in, not what the polls of the day showed, and she does not seem to be an elitist. So what if she isn't a slick tongued political snake oil salesman. A member from Alaska posted, seems he was pleased with her actions as governor. Once again, I will state, if "quitting" a job she was gettin paid large for and really did not have to do anything at, was gonna get the media circus out of the states business. Great, quit away. Your someone of substance comment smacks of intellectual elitism. Once again, Biden, Obama, but HER, oh, she's stupid. No she's not a slick assed political hack. To quote Ventura, the last person you saw on CNN discussing Palin, is akin to quoting a talk show host. He is a complete and total idiot, whom can only make it on any program by bashing a certain political party. You're spinnin your wheels because you keep up the same lame assed argument. I really care two drips less about you being from Poland, you seem to be stuck in a liberal talking point. that's why your wheels are spinning, you have no traction, but plenty of throttle.

The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism, but under then name of Liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program until one day America will be a Socialist nation without knowing how it happened.

I would think that someone who lived in Poland under Communist rule would be wise enough to recognize that Communism doesn't just happen overnight....see if any of these line up with recent or current events in the US....or Canada.

1. Convince America that there are rich and poor and that the rich do everything in their power to keep the poor down. (i.e. Class warfare)

2. Make the word “profit” obscene by talking about “obscene profits of the oil companies”. This makes it easier for the Government to nationalize industries.

3. Gain control of important “services” to people. For example, take over healthcare through the use of “universal” healthcare. This also nationalizes almost 15% of the economy.

4. Nationalize the energy sector of the economy. This can be done overtly by an actual take over of the companies, or through tax legislation that controls prices but does nothing to address supply and demand.

5. Pass laws that make over 50% of the population dependent on government money (welfare, social security, Medicare, earned income credit, childcare credit, etc) Once the population understands that it can get more money from the government by voting for a particular political party, the 2 party system will be dead.

6. Teach only leftist curriculum in schools in primary, secondary and universities. Make sure that anyone who disagrees with Marxist thinking is marginalized and preferably expelled, or if possible indoctrinated in Marxist theory.

7. Control the major news outlets and get them to peddle your Marxist theory as some type of new liberalism that really isn’t communism because it is done for the poor.

8. Redefine the political spectrum by labeling conservative thinking as far right propaganda. Redefine Marxist thinking as middle of the road.

9. Support a highly progressive income tax code. Un-tax as many people as possible to buy votes for your Marxist theory.

10. Make market based economic theory “evil” and against “the children”.

A country that operates for an extended period of time with Socialist programs, will only acquire more, at the expense of the people and of your Freedoms. There are many historical examples of this, so lets learn from history.

Just because someone has firm beliefs doesn't make them right; afterall, dictators and tyrants have firm beliefs too, but no one's going to give them a Nobel Peace Prize based on their convictions..

...so I guess the real question is whose beliefs are we talking about? The population of United States, or just a small demographic within it? Now I understand you rather discuss Palin's beliefs over her looks or her isms. Of course that means you need to know what you're talking about, and that means you need to research those beliefs if you're going to align yourself with them. Here let me help you get started: you can look into the costs/ethics of the wolf shoot, the bear hunt's impact on Alaska's tourism, the environmental impact of the drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the ethics investigation on the firing of her brother-in-law, suing the federal government to remove animals off the endangered species list, the whole Levi Johnston custody thing, or how she quit the governorship for more "lucrative" offers (aka money), etc, etc, etc...

I'm spinning my wheels because you rather argue with me than google some facts. Nice touch insulting Poland though; it shows you're a man of class and distiction with a firm grasp of history. Keep it up my friend.

You're right, communism didn't happen in Poland overnight. It happened over one vote. Franklin Roosevelt cast with Stalin to surrender Poland to the communists. Churchill voted against it, but as the old saying goes. Churchill was too weak, Roosevelt was too ill, and Stalin was too sly.
