I think this is the right forum so I'll ask here.
Looking into a pager alarm to put on my xj(my 98 lumina was stolen over the weekend)I dont want to spend a whole lot .....maybe up to $200 but dont want junk.
I dont care about remote start, door unlock or other fancy crap.I just want one that will page me if someone gets into my jeep or attempts to tow it.Would like one that has a pretty decent range and one that will reach through the croncrete walls of the warehouse I work in

sorry the hear mike! have you tried calling Columbus Car Audio? They are great with alarm systems and don't hire noobs like best buy and other competitors.

you can also add a starter or fuel pump kill switch. cheap easy and works

Look on ebay. I picked up two Vipers with paging, remote start, and a whole bunch of other options for like $200 several years ago. The remote start feature is nice though. Like you I only cared about the paging function as my XJ was stolen in NOLA. But the remote start is nice. Lets the engine warm up a bit, which is good when using forged pistons.

If you are handy with wiring diagrams and a soldering iron you can install it your self. It should take about 4 hours. And don't use those 3M scotch locks. Here is a good source for wiring diagrams and info: http://www.the12volt.com/

I just installed another double-din pioneer dvd/navi head unit for my neighbor because he ignored the pager and the rott when it went off(2nd time stereo has been stolen with the paging system(1st time they were in an AC highrise and 5min was too late). FYI: Good luck on finding a wiring harness for a 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition--had to test, chop, and solder this go around cause none of the shops could find a matching ford harness.

Working in a car audio shop myself, you wont get a quality pager system for $200 installed. You can although get one on ebay for that, give or take a few dollars. If you dont have the Sentry key (gray thick one) then you will have an easier time installing it. My XJ remote start install took about 1 hour from start to finish. I'm using a prestige aps 787a, and have had it installed for a year and a half with no problems.

I will be doing the install my self....not worried about remote start.Just want a basic system, hell It doesnt even have to have power door unlock either.
