Pacesetter header fitment issue

Anyone have this particular fitment issue with the pacesetter header for the renix. I didn't find any cases while searching. The header seems to interfere with the intake manifold in a couple spots.

Not really sure who cut the bottom half of the holes for the guides off, but you can see it's not sitting all the way down

Is there something I'm missing here or is it a manufacturing error in the header?

Not to insinuate anything but are you sure you have the right header for the Renix. Pacesetter has different part numbers for the Renix vs. H.O. header and they are different.

Over the years I have read multiple fitment issues with Pacesetters, so there should be threads.

Yes, the majority of them is about the y-pipe not fitting properly and not aligning correctly with the cat.

The ibtake is aluminum. A small amount of grinding is quick. If in critical area be careful

This is kind of the nature of the beast with headers (speaking as a guy who worked in that industry for several years).

I installed a Borla Stainless header on my '96. I had interference issues with it and the intake manifold as well. For my situation a bit of grinding on a support web took care of the problem. Another route to take is to dimple the tube by placing a piece of round stock over the interfering tube and hitting it with a hammer. This is a common practice in the manufacturing of headers. Many designs come with dimples already hammered into them.

Thanks for posting this up. I am currently working towards a header decision for my just rebuilt 1990 Renix. I have crossed Pacesetter OFF the list of candidates. Obvious issues and I have read several other threads where people had the same issues.

I will probably go with either the stock header I have as it is in excellent condition, or I will go with a Banks Revolver and do the minimal grinding on the intake corner to get it to fit.

Currently looking for internet information comparing the flow rates and benefits of an aftermarket header over the OEM version.

Just an update.

I called pacesetter and they said that it was an unusual fitment issue. I purchased the header a few years ago and have been holding onto it. When i told them how long ago I purchased it they said that the header had been redesigned since then..... They said they'd send me a new one if I could provide the receipt.... unfortunately I can't find it and the vendor I'm sure I purchased it from could not find records of my purchase. I'm hoping they'll still send me one.

For the mean time I dimpled the problem tubes. #1 only needed minor dimpling while #4 was fairly extensive.... But it's together and running just in time for elk hunting season, which starts next weekend.
