Overall Shock Comparison

I have been considering replacing my shocks. The different shocks I'm considering are:

1. Bilstein 5100
2. Edelbrock IAS
3. Rancho 9000X
4. Doestch 3000 series

Does anyone have any opinions on these, or on any others? I'm looking at all-around perfoance. Mostly the quality of the on-road ride. Which is why I'm not seriously considering both the Bilstein 7100's and Edelbrock's remote resevoir.

TIA

I love my Rancho's,being able to dial them to the conditions is priceless!

How about OME, Rusty's Adjustable, RE? I'm curious as well but have a hard time spending 80+/wheel for shocks at least, but I am cheap about some things I guess.

I've got the Rancho RS-9000's and love them. I waited until they had buy 3 get the 4th free. It is nice being able to change them depending on the terrain. I keep them on a "3" setting most of the time, which is the same as the Rancho RS-5000's.

Ditto on what XJ92 said, plus they are Lifetime Warranty!

My Trailmaster SSV's were awsome. They have over 100K miles on them and are still ok, but the bushings are bad. I just bought Old Man Emu's shocks because that is what my lift could come with for a reasonable price. I hope they are as good, but that is a tall order.

If you have the moeny I don't see a reason not to go with the 7100 series. You can valve them however you want and they have a remote res. They will blow every other shock out of the water. Unless you are talking Fox, King, ect.

I disliked the RS9000 shocks, especially the on-road ride. I hear great things about the Skyjacker Hydros, so that's the next set for me.

I have the Hydros in the rear, and to me they feel stiff. I have Pro-Comp ES3000 in the front and hate them.

WayneXJ..... where can I find the DT 8000 series?
Weasel....I have heard that the 7100's are awesome, but they are a little pricey too. Don't they have heim ends on them?

I have looked into the Rancho 9000's, and most people say good things about them. Does anyone still sell the older style, not the new 9000X?

I have had BDS and Rancho RS5000s and 9000s. I thought the 9000s were ok until I went with Old Man Emu these things are awsome I love them and will probably never run another shock (okay maybe coilovers but thats it.) I got mine from DPG offroad like $65 a shock

whats the differance between nirto and hydro?

The Nitro's tend to give a stiffer ride, and are usually applied to heavier vehicles.
