Out with the old, in with the new

pony up boys its almost like getting free parts!!!

Hopefully I can get a membership in a few weeks and the parts will still be there.

I didnt' look closely at the leaf springs. I assume they are original at 231,000, I will have to check the folder to see if they replaced them at all. I will not have a use for the leaf springs. If you get your name in red and support the club, they are yours for free.
Looks like you will have to let me know when you get them off of your new jeep... :) I drive through green bay once or twice a month.

That's fawking awesome!!!! I will let you know as soon as they are off. Should be a week or two. Way to go red!!!!

Axles are D44/9inch from a 77 f-150, tires are 38"x15.5"x15" Mickey Thompson MTZ's. Suspension is around 7" with T.N.T long arm setup and front axle truss

Kim that Cherokee have the wood grain dash? Care to trade? +cash?

You planning on using the fog lights? Interested in the switch and fog lights. Yes I know cheaper if my name was red.

After a few hours of wrenching.

My little garage helper, her name is Cherokee. :D

This afternoon the axles and suspension come out. Then on to the 97.:firedevil

I do have to say it was a challenge to get the front suspension to sit in place as I had to take off the belly pan the long arms mount to. Four ratchet straps later and all was good.

Finally on the trailer awaiting the scrap yard.

New jeep ready for the garage

I think I am going to do the axles and suspension first. Then on to the motor swap and tranfer case swap. Or should I do the motor/tranfer case swap and then the axles and suspension?

First thing is to get the jeep into the garage. :D

If it was me, I'd drop the engine in it while it was stock and short. I've run out of room on my engine hoist because I wasn't thinking of how high the jeep sat.

But then you have to crawl under a stock jeep to hook stuff up, so I guess you could go either way. But at least if you had the new drivetrain in there, you'd only have to put your tranny crossmember and long arm mounts in one time, instead of putting them in to hold the suspension, then rigging them up to get the old stuff out and the new engine in.

I was thinking put the lift in and have more room to get to the lower bellhousing bolts and the torque converter bolts. This isn't my first motor swap and sure isn't my last. LOL I will be installing the 4.7 stroker around the first of the year. :D

I have enough room to do an engine swap in my garage if the suspension lift is in already. But thinking things a little more through, I think I will be swapping motors and then on to the suspension and axles. When I swap out the crossmember for the belly pan, that is when I will swap the 242 out for the 231.

Hope to be done in a week!! LOL Yeah, right. :D
