OOPS picture thread.

It sucks to have to send something to recover the recovery vehicle. If you had a winch why did you have to wait overnight? Just curious. Winch only work in the daytime?
It was getting dark and cold, and we were only a couple miles from home, so we all piled into my friend's XJ and left. He'd gotten stuck earlier and I winched him out so he decided to stay out on the hard pack the rest of the time. We tried winching off of him and succeeded only in dragging him closer to the mud hole I was in. I tried winching off the power pole directly in front of me, but everything was still too soft to get traction, and the pole was only about 6 feet away.

The next day the mud had started drying some and made for just enough traction for me to drive out after winching almost all the way to the pole. Then got stuck again and winched off that skinny little fence post. :D

Almost forgot about this one, broke a track bar at Moad, around the junction of Poison Spider Mesa and Gold Bar Rim, spent 7 hours driving it back down with almost no steering.

I've been trying to find some pictures with my jeep stuck in the snow for some variety, but I can't find any, only pictures of other jeeps stuck. Worst time for me I was out by myself for some camping in Colorado in May, got high centered on a snow drift. Not a big deal cause I was camping anyway and only about a mile away from Gold Camp Road, but another jeep came along in a couple hours and was kind enough to give mine a pull.

My first stuck, first wheelng trip as a driver and first dent. My fender ended up meeting that tree when the built YJ yanked me out.

rear? if so its time for a traction bar

Yeah. The first one (second picture) broke on the interestate, it was the stock u-joint that wasn't well enough lubricated because they're "sealed", I could feel the vibration but couldn't find which joint because everything was still tight. It melted about 100 miles from home and came apart.

But the second one was from axle wrap. I'm collecting pieces for the traction bar, I'll be picking up the DOM next week and will be able to start building. Look for a thread from me in the next few weeks double checking my geometery.

them and backing plates make for a smooth ride. but they do make some noise at freeway speeds. just need to find some that last a few more miles though. these wear quickly

I've had both of those things happen before... kinda.

Last time I had someone in the back seat of my Jeep I had a fire extinguisher laying in the back floor board. His muddy shoes stuck to the pin and pulled it out then he managed to step on the handle while getting out. It was funny as hell. He dove out of the Jeep onto the ground in the mud. :)

I bought a truck about 2 years ago. A 1990 Ford Ranger. Got half way home and the front passenger wheel came off at 65 mph. My brake rotor looked a lot like your shock mount. The funniest part was that the tire kept going 65mph until it hit dead center of a power poll bounced what I'd say was about 40 foot in the air and start straight back to me. I managed to jump out the truck and catch it. It tried to take me with it. Luckily it was a small stock tire. Had it been one of my 37s I think I would have just watched it roll back by. :)
