oil pressure question

4.0 liter engine
engine warning light came on this morning due to low indicated oil pressure. But when engine is revved up the pressure indication goes up and engine check light goes out. oil level is full and was changed out a couple of weeks ago.
Any ideas? bad sendor unit or oil pump going out? Just started this morning doing it.

Thanks!

A bad sending unit or worn oil pump are definitely possibilities, but worn rod +/- main bearings are also possible.
As Langer suggested, if you have a Fram filter, change it to another brand (I suggest Mopar). It might help but a persistently low oil pressure at idle usually points to worn bearings.

Change your oil filter before anything else. Its cheap and easy. Use something other than a Fram filter! Napa Gold filters work good in my rig.

X2 on the Napa Gold- I've got 5-10 more PSI on the gauge than with the jiffy lube filter.

also, when I unplugged the sensor connection, blew on it, and plugged it back in I gained another five pounds.

I'm now at 40-45 cold start and under acceleration, 25-30 at hot idle.
