Oil Pressure Gauge question

My oil pressure gauge constantly shows 80+. I'm assuming it's just a sensor since I checked the oil and everything seems fine on the oil level and I'm not experiencing any other problems.

Any suggestions to confirm that it's a sensor or other "symptoms" I should look for?

The oil sending unit is known for going bad on the cherokee. If the connection is good, and not disconnected, its probably shot. They can be had for pretty cheap at any auto parts store.

I figured it was something electronic. The needle bounces around sporadically and it's always high.

I need to get a service manual and I haven't even had the XJ for a week...

yep its the sending unit......... located behind oil filter.
