Looking to go SOMEWHERE on the 27th of October. I'd like to camp for the final time this year. I was thinking Deer Valley. Maybe run in then out and camp in Hermit Valley?

Any ideas?

Hey Dave, I am thinking of heading up that weekend and doing a trail run.
I will have my twins, so thinking cheap hotel for the night. I do want to run slick rock
Or deer valley before the snow. It was so nice up there last weekend.

Well, the question of wether DV is open or closed is up for some debate. Some are saying it's closed, some are saying it's open or going to be open. This last opinion may explain why there is apparently no gate or anything other than a piece of paper stapled to the board at the trail head. And this isn't even on USFS letterhead! We have spoken to the Ranger at the station on the way up Hwy 4 and we were told that DV was closed, OR SO SHE THOUGHT. She had to call the Ranger District up in ELDO to find out and they informed her that yes it's closed. At the ELDO side. But in speaking with folks who have run the trail they say they saw neither any signage or gates, or anything else for that matter. They told me they ran the trail without any trouble.

So the answer is... who the heck knows!

So, what to do?

How about we plan on running DV. Maybe not all the way though but all the way until we have to turn around?

We were told you can start at either side but you cannot cross either water crossing (i.e. the middle portion between the rivers is off limits)

There were no gates when we ran it in August. Just verbal warnings and notes not to cross the rivers.

Wish I could ge but we will be in North Carolina seeing our daughter. Take pictures.

OK, we are running Corral Hollow and NOT camping. We have two TJ's, one new JK Rubicon 4 dr, a CJ, and my XJ. Anyone is welcome to join us. Although I'm not sure when we'll hit the trail. More than likely around 1030 or 1100. We will be going all the way thru and out by the cabin depending on the snow of course.

I wish I could make it, but I think I will be staying home? You guys should hit up the trail in the Town of dorrington "sourgrass" its 2.5 miles long one way. Its funs and the spots on the river are great.
