Occupy Wall Street

Ok I read about the "terrifying spree" and it included 1 alleged rape... Are people making such a huge deal of one allegation of rape? Do you really believe there's 100's of victims that are being some how mind controlled and not reporting their abuse? Do these protest organizers have that sort of power over women or are they being held captive? They are being forced to keep their abuse silent, yet some how the news knows about it and is reporting on it?

Or, is it more likely a case of the media blowing things out of proportion to make the area seem unsafe and hope the cops shut it down. Also, random people who are against OWS reporting to the news(again not to the police) that these crimes are happening seems likely.
The story I posted was about the protesters themselves setting up a "safe" zone for women to sleep.

My point is not, "there's been one rape, shut the protest down".

My point is, "I don't think this is the protesters reaction to a single incident."

If there was one, two, or even 10 incidents over the course of a month, statistically, those numbers get lost in the noise. Whatever problem there is, however big or small it is, the protesters themselves are having to take action.
And yes, a relatively small number in a large group CAN be controlled by the other members of the group.

The bad part is, at it's base, the OWS protest could have a solid message: Stop government corruption, cronyism, industry bailouts, etc.(wouldn't be too different then the tea party.) 'Problem is, their message seems to be less "Stop the favoritism." and more "Give some of that to me!"

I watch the nyc news every night and it honestly refreshing to hear only one alleged rape and maybe a few more unreported, down there

No joke that's waaaaaaaaaaay better than the normal amount of rapes and assaults they report in the city

Why?

Aren't the recipients of the corruption equally cuplable... ESPECIALLY, when we all know the recipients are constantly lobbying to get the government tilted in their favor and free hand-outs?

Someone made an analogy about a drug user, and said something about asking the drug dealer to stop selling drug.

That is what going to Washington would be the same as... go to Washington and ask the drug dealers (Politicians in Wachington) to stop selling drug (corrupt, special access to governemnt).

Instead, the OWSers are going to the drug user and telling them to stop using the drugs because, while it may be good for them, it's screwing everyone else.

And because they are addicted to the drugs that Washington provides them, they will not stop using them until Washington puts them in rehab and cuts off their source.

We the People can control what goes on in Washington.....but the folks we've elected figured out how to drug their base too......and these addicts keep voting them back into office.

Exactly.

So let's ALL vote 3rd party next year!!!

This reporter does a great job of dissecting the participants of the OWS movement and its true agenda.

http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/42179

Topic shift. I found the top advertisement banner & the herald on Canadian Free Press interesting. The ad banner stating a restore the Constitution Rally in Washington and the herald tagline "...without America there is no free world."

Now back to the regularly scheduled banter about OWS...

Abramoff, who was once one of the wealthiest and most powerful lobbyists in Washington before a corruption scandal sent him to federal prison for more than three years, said that many of those members of Congress bragged to him about their stock trading prowess while dining at the exclusive restaurant he owned on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Gotta fix this, which will solve a myriad of other related problems.

OWS has sold out. Another great idea that due to lack of true leadership & vision had the ideals polluted when other 'causes' joined.

The Oakland branch had money set aside to pay bail for protestors arrested. They opened an account at the local Wells Fargo branch to hold the money until needed.

Throw around buzz words such as revolution then you better mean it. American patriots sat rotting on English prison barges in NY harbor for years. Many lost more than tents, they lost real land, their farmss, their houses, their lively hood and some their lives.

Drove by OWS - San Francisco this morning, surprised it is still there as the mayor election is over. Largely peaceful and well contained.

November 17th .......is this date significant, or purely coincidental?

HISTORY OF THE 17N / N17 TERRORIST ORGANIZATION.

The ultra-secret revolutionary terrorist organization called Organosi Phantasma, and N17 or 17N, for 17 November, has carried out terrorist bombings and assassinations in Greece with impunity since 1975.

17N's stated ideological goal would bring Cambodian-style killing fields to Greece and wipe out all those in the upper, middle, professional, and educated classes. However, as with most revolutions, it is said that those at the top of 17N may have become more interested in personal power and profit than in social revolution.

November 17 takes its name from the date of a 1973 student uprising, which was crushed by the dictator Colonels' army.

17N, and what was to become Andreas Papandreou's left-wing Socialist ruling PASOK Party, arose at the same time to oppose the tyrant regime of the Colonels which lasted from 1967 to 1974.

It has now been broached even in the previously fearful Greek press that 17N has ties to members of the PASOK party going back to their mutual resistance to the regime of the Colonels.

In January 2002 when both the BBC and Sixty Minutes asked the Greek Justice Minister about PASOK government connections to 17N, the Minister replied angrily. "So long as there is no evidence, we cannot accept such accusations".

However, for 27 years, no matter what political party was in power in Greece, the terrorist organization 17N assassinated, robbed and bombed with complete impunity.
Nearly a decade ago, a break could have come when two men were apprehended, but they were allowed to escape.

On June 8, 2000, by its own admission, 17N assassinated the British Military Attaché in Athens as an act of political terrorism. N17 used the same pistol they have since their first assassination in 1975 and their usual method is to have two men wearing helmets with dark visors come up on a motorcycle beside the victim's car at a stop light, and shoot the victim in the head through the car window.

The present crack down on 17N was essential for PASOK the political party in power because 17N’s continued terrorist activities made the foreign press question the safety of the up-coming Olympics in Athens, and because the ruling party PASOK was in danger of losing the next election, in part because of their inaction on, and rumored association with 17N.

Since the arrests in August 2002, the newly emboldened Greek press is calling for the investigation into what connections there may be between members of the PASOK party in power and 17N.

Who is behind the OWS and who are the 99%.....really?

Could it be that the 99% is the rest of the world and the 1% is the USA?

Think about it, the poorest Americas are still more wealthy than the rest of the worlds population.

Is OWS just a piece of a global movement to destroy capitolism and to redistribute wealth?

Nov 17,2011

Arrested in today protests were one of the city’s top labor leaders, George Gresham, president of 1199/S.E.I.U., United Healthcare Workers East, and Mary Kay Henry, the president of the nationwide S.E.I.U.

Need any more proof that that OWS is astroturf for the re-elect Obama 2012 campaign?

Just weeks after the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) professed its support for Occupy Wall Street, the 2.1-million-member organization disclosed an early endorsement of President Obama’s reelection.

"We believe in a country that invests in good jobs here at home, where everyone pays their fair share," SEIU President Mary Kay Henry stated in a conference call to reporters.

"Do we want leaders who side with the needs of rich corporations and the 1 percent, where they are prospering at the expense of everyone else? Or do we want leaders who will side with the rest of us, the 99 percent?"

"President Obama is the only candidate for president who shares our vision of America as a land of opportunity for everyone. We need a leader willing to fight for the needs of the 99 percent, and stand with hard working families to say that the world's wealthiest corporations must pay their fair share… "

"These bankers and CEOs have used their wealth and excessive political influence to treat our state and federal governments like their personal cash drawer - spending lavishly on elections and then pressuring legislators to give them even more instead of creating jobs. It shows in the results."

Now let's review some facts......and spotlight the hypocricy:

Close to 100 of the big-money bundlers for Obama’s re-election team have ties to investment banks and other financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, and Bank of America--each of which received tens of millions of dollars in bailout money at the start of the recession. The campaign has roughly 360 bundlers, the high-powered executives who vacuum up individual contributions of $2,500 and assemble them into larger packages.

Most of the companies--including Lime Rock Partners, a global company specializing in the energy sector, and Riverside Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm focused on health care--are smaller and don’t garner big headlines like Goldman Sachs.

But overall, the Wall Street-linked bundlers have brought in between $15.3 million and at least $27.7 million for the president.

Former New Jersey governor and Goldman Sachs chief executive Jon Corzine, who now works at MF Global Holdings, raised at least $500,000 for Obama.

Other heavy hitters include Bruce Heyman, a managing director for Goldman Sachs, who with his wife raised between $200,000 and $500,000.
Robert Wolf, president of UBS Investment Bank, raised at least
$500,000.

Obama’s new 2012 re-election campaign senior adviser, Broderick Johnson, has an extensive history of lobbying for big banks and corporations.

In 2007, he lobbied for JP Morgan Chase and in 2008 Johnson lobbied for Bank of America and Fannie Mae. From 2008 through 2010, he lobbied for Comcast and in 2011 he lobbied for Microsoft.

2008 Obama Presidental campaign top contributors:

University of California $1,648,685
Goldman Sachs $1,013,091
Harvard University $878,164
Microsoft Corp $852,167
Google Inc $814,540
JPMorgan Chase & Co $808,799
Citigroup Inc $736,771

Sidley Austin LLP $600,298
Stanford University $595,716
National Amusements Inc $563,798
WilmerHale LLP $550,668
Columbia University $547,852
Skadden, Arps et al $543,539
UBS AG $532,674IBM Corp $532,372
General Electric $529,855
US Government $513,308
Morgan Stanley $512,232
Latham & Watkins $503,295

OWS will never become a 3rd party. The Tea Party, if managed correctly will become the 3rd party in America. OWS is not an organized mo ement but rather a liberal funded attack on business.

The Tea Party isn't truly organized either. It is a fiscally responsible (and mostly fiscally conservative) outcry against big spending from both parties.

When it got organized is when it got co-opted and turned into another bunch of social conservatives yapping about banning gay marriage.

The tea party is irrelevant already, the state of ny just passed tax reforms that some consider due to ows, about XXXXing time if you ask me

We won't say 99% but the new rates will help people making (might be a little off) 30k 70 and increases the taxes on singles over 1mil and couples over 2mil. And I hope all the people threatening to move from ny to Jersey do it, less traffic on the North side

The tea party has done nothing for the population except further polarize the political process and give Jon Stewart something to talk about

Im confused.......you are giving the OWS movement credit for the increase in taxes on NYers, as well as increasing governmental spending, yet are putting down the tea party for wanting to reduce EVERYONES tax burden and reducing governmental spending?

So under this grand new reform, NYers earning $70k get a $222.00 annual tax reduction ( that's $18.50 a month) , while NYers who earns $1,000,000.00 get a tax increase of 2%. ($20,000.00)

Way to stick it to the small business owners, who will have to decide whether to lay someone off ( so they can become a burden of the taxpayer) or raise prices......both of which will likely end up costing the average middle class NYer much more than the $18.50 a month they saved.

Well done. You've successfully copied Europes failed policies of laying the majority of the tax burden on the wealthy, instead of creating a flat tax that provides an even distribution of the tax burden.

The voice of progressive socialism has spoken.....same thing is taking place on the left coast with Jerry Brown and Company.

I never thought I would weigh in on a political pissing match, but there are degrees of truth from both sides of MOST political viewpoints. I was born and raised in Cocoa Beach, FL and watched it grow from a sleepy little fishing/surfing/space town into a tourist mecca/suburb of Orlando. Many shady deals made and greased palms turned it into what it is today. Now I live in a county that has one 4 way stop, one turning lane(into the high school), and cows on both sides of the road. The politics here are worse than the city and if you believe for one minute that there is no such thing as conspiracy in government you are a fool. I intend that comment for both sides of any political discussion. End of comment on this subject. I only have so much piss. My hound on the other hand....

x2.

You guys are starting to sound like a bunch of conspiracy theorists who post grainy black and white videos on youtube to try and use circumstantial evidence to prove a point.
