Anyone have any insight on what could be going on?

Both O2 sensors are about a year old and are Bosch...

I'm stumped

  • The oxygen sensor heater circuit is shorted out
  • The wiring to the sensor is broken / frayed (less likely)
  • O2 Heater element resistance is high
  • Internal short or open in the heater element
  • O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance
  • open or short to ground in the wiring harness
  • Faulty O2 sensor
  • Short to battery voltage in O2 sensor signal circuit
  • High fuel pressure (not as likely)

P0700 - replace the electronic shifter module

P0720 - replace output shaft speed sensor

The new guy is on top of it  check the wires for the o2 sensors, one of them might be laying across the exhaust and melted, or rubbed through the insulation from sitting against the motor or something else. those codes are usually related to a damaged wire on the 02 sensors.

I dunno about the speed sensor codes, does your speedo read right without bouncing around?

The trans codes are ok. Those are from me using a 98 trans with 97 wiring when I did my conversion... 98 has 14pins and the 97 has 12 or something like that so we rigged it. The gauges only bounce around every once in a while when I have my foot in the floor and it's been running for hours at a time which is rarely.

As far as the O2 codes go, could it be a fuel pump/filter? TheCaptin was reading a thread with a guy having the same problems/symptoms and he changed his pump/filter and they went away..?

you could try asking in OEM tech, you'll get way more people looking at the thread and probably get better answers, thats what the tech forums are for ;)

p0700 isn't a "replace the shifter module" Its a generic code set in the PCM to tell you (or a shop) you have other codes in the transmission module.

Tone, if you wanna make a drive to Ontario or possibly my house in Highland, I could look at it for you. I highly doubt it could be a fuel issue. If it were a fuel pump/filter problem, you might get a fuel system lean. With the voltage high code its mostlily wiring as Mike said, or the o2 itself.

Thanks justin, You think I could fit the steel in there too?

I sold my jeep, I gave the guy everything I had... Steel included. I forgot you wanted it. If it's been longer that 8 hours, I usually forget everything.. Sorry about that.

No worries man... Sucks you sold it, what are you planning on getting to wheel?

It doesnt suck that bad, it was a driveway ornament it went 3,000 miles in the 2+ years I had it. I'm kinda glad it left, The new owner loves it, and he'll use it way more then I ever did.
