NWC Picture of the day

The bolts held up, the threads in the box stripped out

Same thing has happened to my Durango box, after taking it off and putting back on so many times during mock up of the winch bumper, the threads on one of those "tabs" just deteriorated.
I just chased the threads as best I could, and threw a longer bolt in it, and cinched in down real good with a nut.
Not the most ideal situation/solution, but it works.
The only other (practical) option would be to step up to the next size of thread. (diameter not TPI)

I didn't even think to nut the other side

Oh well.. I already have a new box!

Don't worry. We won't tell everybody if you start secretly going out and "nutting the other side."

The cast isn't machined flat on the other side of the mounting foot, so make sure you either do some custom work on it (without adding stress risers) or just go up to the next bolt size, which is gonna reduce the thickness of the metal around the bolt.

Either way you're ****ed. I'd probably drill out and tap to 1/2-13 though.

Picture of the day thread... Almost no pics on this page.

Dear jerkoff on Columbia blvd.
You dropped a container of nasty sludgy crap that smells like oil, dries like paint and looks like poo.
I hit it with my jeep... My tires slung it up and onto the side of my jeep and windows..... You owe me $10.
