Honestly I did look at some dodges but with the way my loan worked out from my credit union I needed to stay 2001 and newer and under $10000 with less then 150,000 miles.

Pretty much eliminated anything with a diesel.
After some research I decided I didnt want a gas dodge or another modular Ford so I went with a 3/4ton chevy. Im not a Chevy guy but it seemed like the most bang for the buck.

I have zero disagreement with this post. In the exact same case I would have made the same choice. :dunno:

So glad I didn't spend the money on a diesel. Granted I'm not drag racing with a 20k load on but 75 in cruise control. And my oil change only costs $20

Over loaded...
Tow rating on that is 5,000
Truck is 4-5k alone
Trailer is 2,500

Hey over loading it by 1,500-2000lbs is not as bad as some people wanting to over load it 9k


If you got lucky and got the one rated for 7k your maxed out in this pic... Hope you don't plan on loading up any camping gear or a cooler...

What are th tires rated on the truck? C,D? E?

Tow rating is 7800. Truck is 3800 trailer 2500? Prob more like 2000. So lets just say 6k add 500 in parts and misc stuff thats over 1000 under rated towing. and for its primary function as a dd. it is so much more comfortable than any diesel in my price range. I also like leaving it running in a drive through.

Ben. I understand the reasons of DD. but a GCWR of 14,000lbs on 1/2 ton brakes with no trailer brakes is flat out dangerous and illegal

I get it. You like it. It's your money. But get a brake controller and a weight distribution hitch at a minimum.

I was being sarcastic anyway. If your too stupid to tow a trailer do everyone a favor and dont. Its fine with me if you all want to kill youselves thats fine. Please dont kill the rest of us. Thats why they make why GVW rating for evey vehicle.
Some people just dont know what this is OKAY!!!!!! read your god dam manual!!!! thats what I do when I need to know something about the car I'm driving down the road.
If you cant do this DONT DRIVE ANYTHING!!!!!!!
