Now I own two S4's

LOL - you Audi guys are so sensitive!

Just kiddin'. It's all good - you and DJ have nice DD cruisers. You guys prefer German engineering..... I had to go the Aussie route to find my taste in performance and quality - and I'm sure you guys don't envy my payments! :D

4-ring VW's FTW!

I had a 200 quattro, which is the chassis that became that S4 with a different inline 5 turbo engine, and it was a pain in the ass.

Actually I'm pretty sure the 200 was a different chassis as my cars non-S4 brother was the 100. The 100 then became the A6 in 95.

Dude, I love that GTO and I'm sure its faster than even my 2000 S4. Thats ok though, I'll just wait until it snows to race you. AWD baby. :D

it could have been based on the 100.

in somewhere around 1991 the 200QT got the 5 cyl 20v turbo engine and that car somehow became an S line car after one or two model years, but I can't remember exactly which or how.

in any event no one will mistake 90's vintage audis for being reliable :o
Unstoppable in the snow though, that thing was a beast.

Well as far reliabilty is concerned this car has 212000miles and its running great. The only major repairs done to it (I have all the records from both the original owner and previous owner to me, I'm the third owner) is a transmission swap to a 95.5 5spd. The 95.5plus 5speeds had a stronger 1st gear.

I know another guy with a 95 S6 (same car as mine, but renamed an S6 after Audi came out with the A4 and renamed the 100 the A6) and his has 160000miles and has had any real problems either.

In all my experience with VW's old and new (and Audis too) they are amazingly reliable mechanically, its just they tend to have problems with their electronics and accessories. Considering how far ahead of the times they are with that stuff its not unsurprising.

They look kind of cool but I duck and cover whenever anything German comes in the shop. No offense. Even the most simple stuff. Everybody in the world uses a 6 point cv nut socket. Except VW/ Audi, they have to be special and put a 12 point on so I have to buy a 40 dollar socket to work on the POS. Grr.

:D, at least they are smart enough to stick with all metric hardware. The Jeep isn't too bad, but fracking GM's are the most annoying things in the world for going back and forth between metric and standard. I wish all cars would use one or the other, and only one. That way I wouldn't have to buy so many damned tools.

I know what you mean about the special tools though, you should see my growing collection. I even had to get a special tool just to drain the transmission on my VW's.

front unit bearing hub bolts on the XJ.....

That's a hub bolt, not a hub nut. Big difference. One (VW/ Audi) takes an expensive, large diameter, almost never used socket while the other uses a commonly found, small socket that every tech has. Not an issue.

Its like a 31mm 12pt socket you need to use. Thing that sucks is its hard to find an impact one that size as a 12pt so you need to use a regular socket on it, the torque spec is like 250 ft/lb. I've broken a few, thankfully Sears is more than happy to replace them.

they're a fan of 15mm hex bolts that require a big allen drive too.

Cool car(s) Dutch! I used to have a B5 A4 1.8t. That car was slow as hell, but had a great feel to it. It was a blast to drive! The only reason that I sold it is that I too went with an Aussie when I bought my 05 GTO.

Well I just put a DP-back exhaust on my wife's (only about 7hp, new dp's would net another 20hp but are serious $$$) and had it chipped with a GIAC chip. Its now sitting just over 300HP. Its pretty fast, now where's Troy with the GTO and "Get out of Jail free card"?

Oh, and I've got a TNT Y-Link on order at the discounted price for the XJ. Awesome!!!

Did you get your kit in yet? ...you has too many projects to play with :)

.......and with DNC coming it sounds like you won't be completing some of them until Sept.

Are you saying you think that exhaust and the GIAC chip added more than 50 hp? That's pretty impressive. Is that 300 hp figure at the crank or to the wheels? (Wow, just looked up the chip data - 50-90hp potential - nice!)

Did a little internet searching...... just cuz.....:D

2004 GTO stock dyno:
Most reports I saw showed 292 - 300 HP, and in the 320's torque at the wheels.

2000 Audi B5 S4 stock dyno:
Only a few stock dyno reports, but generally 192 - 197 HP, and in the 210's torque at the wheels.

I'm only running a Diablo Sport basic tune which nets about 15hp as my only hp enhancing mod.

I dunno Dutch...... I think I'd take ya. Wanna put up or shut up? :D

Here is the duel I want to see.

2006 Audi RS4
4.2 Liter V8
414 Hp
317 lb-ft
3,703.8 lbs

2006 Pontiac GTO
6.0 Liter V8
400 Hp
400 lb-ft
3,725 lbs

I've done that race, but mine is a 2005 GTO with headers, intake, cat-back, tune, shifter, etc. I'm sitting around 440ish at the crank. We went from a roll at about 15mph and I pulled on him pretty decently. From a stop I am sure that it would have been a different story.

EDIT:
Here are some stock stats that I found online:

2006 Audi RS 4 Quattro 4.8 13.3 (C&D Sept '05)
2005 Pontiac GTO V8 w/6 Spd 4.8 13.3 (C&D Jan '05)

That being said, we all know that most magazines don't hit the numbers that enthusiasts do in the real world, so both cars are probably faster. My car bone stock ran a faster 1/4 than the GTO that C&D tested.

I'm not saying I'd wax you or anything, but I'm sire it'd be damn close. I'd race you just for fun though, be nice to see what the results would be. I do know that if it was raining I'd dominate the race. Its a bit harder to launch an AWD car properly, something I'm still messing around with.
