So I finally got off my ass and renewed my membership with TechShop RDU, knocked out my MIG SBU last night, and have my TIG SBU scheduled for tomorrow... In any case, I'm looking to spend some of the weekend practicing some welds and was hoping to get my hands on some scraps to play with.
Anyone in the Raleigh area have any scrap tube from a cage build, or any square tube left over from another project? Their scrap bin is pretty rough, so I'd like to have some reasonably fresh metal to play with and leave behind for other members to do the same. I really want to practice with ~3/16" wall tube and other stock seeing as that seems to be one of the most common/versatile mediums for most custom fabrication in this realm (correct me if I'm wrong). Once I'm a little more comfortable (and have laid more than 18" of welds), I'll go ahead and start buying steel for actual projects.
