Hey everyone this is Kyle from Canaan ct if anyone on here is in the area let me know...I'd like to meet some new xj friends..
I just picked one off craigslist for 600 bucks...it's a 95 4.0 np231 dana 30 front and 8.25 rear..I believe...lol the tags are rotted off so I'm not to sure...I'm so happy with it to be completely honest I can't wait to start building it...when I got it it had 107984 for miles and the only rust was the rockers typical I know...the other bit of rust it had was the top was completley rusting and popping the paint off...so this past weekend I stripped it down and got some eastwood rubberized rust encapsulator it looks phenomenal....but enough about my rig let's hear from you guys Whatcha got and where ya from?

Welcome. I think Doug (H8PVMNT or H8PVMT, I always forget which is him) is in your town.

Hey welcome. I'm not sure who's up by you. But you should come to NAC fest.

Tha n js for the welcome....I'd love to attend NAC FEST but as of right now all of my cash flow is going into fixing/building this up...next year I'll go for sure when it's ready to be played with...I gotta fix the doors on the passenger side as well because before I bought it it was side swiped pretty hard and caved the doors in along with rocker...it did come with doors but I need the $ for paint as they don't match they are grey jeeps dark green...lol so if anyone sees me around stop me...you should be able to tell it's me with the doors smashed in and undercoated roof..lol

whats the plans for the Jeep? we also have Rocktoberfest in Oct. in NH, trails for all levels. Welcome to NAXJA

id just go to 33's with that much lift, or actually go down to 3-3.5" ran that for awhile and worked great

First plans are getting the unibody stiffened up and rocker panels fixed at the same time...ie. cut out sliders 2x6 .188 should be sufficient? you think??
My only thing is reinforcement to the frame rails if I do want to long arm it ever I'm gonna need some measurements on where the lcas go and the belly pan. Also which long arm kit I go with...whether it bolts outside the frame rails or bottom and so on..and then it's on to axle upgrades...I just really have to figure out what I plan on running as a whole.

id stay away from tomken stuff, Clayton is my favorite off the shelf stuff. .188 is perfect, my rockers and bumpers are made from it and are still mint.

the clayton stuff is really nice. but a little pricy. if your only going to with 31s I wouldn't go more than 3 in of lift. thats really all you need to clear a tire that size. Im in the process of doing mine and Im doing 3.5" and 33s

Awesome that's what I was figuring on the wall thickness just thick enough to take a beating and not as heavy as .250 Clayton stuff is sooo expensive...but I am sure it's worth it...if I went with Clayton I'd have to go with the short arm kit just to be able to afford it...what about rustys stuff what's the take on that?

Haha...how funny would it look really?? I want to be able to clear fenders (non cut) and everything fully flexed so I figured if I went 33s I'd have to do 6.5... I do want to get rid of the factory flares tho I'd like it covered in mud a little more when I do take it off the asphault. :)

I run 33s on 3.5-4" of lift all the time, if you aren't afraid to remove the flares and trim the sheetmetal a bit, it'll fit no problem... with stock bumpstops.

that's better

Hahaha so can we do tractor tires on 8?? Lmao rock krawler makes one I believe lmao I'm just overwhelmed with the limitless possibility and potential this rig has...I stepped up from a 95 s10 4x4 that I was goin to build. Haha glad I got out of that rot box lol. 4.5 inches I can clear 33s but that's a minimum of 1600 for the lift...no way for an s10?! The front end is so weak (ifs) and no aftermarket support really...

not the long arm kit. but I ran their 3"coils and full leaf packs in the past and they were fine. I also ran the Rubicon express long arm kit and thought that worked well also.
