Hello everyone :)

Just thought I would say hi and introduce myself because you will be seeing me around it seems.

My name is Chris, I am curently a web project manager for a software company but am going back to school in January for a biology degree.

I bought my first jeep 2 weeks ago and it has not been off the jack stands since....LOL

I guess I bought myself a new hobby!

Anyway hello!

Welcome Chris!

You're a rareity around here...... name in red with only 14 posts under your belt - AWESOME!

Hopefully school will allow you to get your rig off the jack stands and hit the trails with us a few times in '06.

I had to join; my jeep wouldn’t have made it onto the jack stands without all of you!!

It’s important to support your resources.

So tell us what you are doing to your rig? What parts are you looking for?

(A bit longer then I expected sorry)

lol what am I doing to my rig.....

Well let me first apologize for my lack of tech speak when it comes to automotive and jeeps. I bought my first socket set last week :)

Here’s the story

I have been driving a 2004 Nissan 350Z for the past 2 years. But I decided to go back to school and get a biology degree in January so decided the $1000/month car (including insurance, maintenance, payment etc.) was not going to work with me being a student.

Then I found the jeep on craigs list..........
not knowing ANYTHING I bought it $1900
3 days later I figure out the t-case is blown and I find oil spots on my driveway.

The oil spots annoyed me and I started reading online about XJ's
figuring 2wd was fine for now I jumped into the rear main seal as my first project.

Half way through I decided I needed air tools or I would never finish so now I have those as well :)

4 seals and trips to NAPA later it was fixed and back together.

But during the process I had to drop my front axle and I figured since everything was already apart I might as well do a lift. So now I am installing the re superflex 3.5" lift. I am done with the front and while doing the back last night had to cut the bolts to one of my leaf springs :(

So tonight I replace the bushings on those and hopefully can drive it again tomorrow...

I know that next I will have Death Wobble so have been looking for t-cases and prices on dealing with SYE and drive shafts etc.. I think I found a t-case for $50 with a new chain and will do a shim and t-case drop to fix the wobble while I rebuild my current t-case with an SYE etc..

so things I am looking for.
1. T-case np231
2. SYE
3. Drive shaft
4. Black window roll down handle
5. Lift gate interior trim (gray)
6. Bumpers
7. Roof rack (Stock)
8. A/T tires 31"
9. Black rims
10. LOTS of advise
11. New friends

Because of school I am on a VERY tight budget for now but I have time to acquire these pieces and I am enjoying the hunt. I think I will hit the bone yards as soon as I can drive it again LOL.

Just a correction, it's not death wobble. That is just a driveline vibration from the shaft/output yoke. Death wobble is MUCH worse than that. Welcome.........

hmm I need to go re read this... Thank you for the clarification!

Welcome! I may have some of the stuff you are looking for... or close anyways. I have an NP242 (part time and full time) which would bolt up for you if you have an auto. It has an RE SYE on it, and I have a rear driveshaft too... I'd love to get this stuff out of my garage, so PM me if you're interested.

Chris

welcome (from the northern contingent)

Should have said something last week. the roof rack and interior trim you are looking for just got pitched, sorry.

Bob

Hey Sting, give me a call 1-970-667-2001

I can help you with the parts and getting what you need. Do you work with vb.NET and aspx pages? I might be able to either trade you parts or pay you for some help. I have a couple of sites I maintain and I could use someone to help "pretty" up the front end. I do the heavy duty secure site back office stuff with the credit card processing.

Ill take a look around for that stuff, might have some of it.

BTW, welcome!

Jeep update...

OK its back together and RUNNING! woohoo

re lift is on and all seems ok,

Putting in t-case this week it should just bolt up (I hope)

Then I need to make it pretty so the wife likes it better and doesn’t balk when the engine blows :gag:

Thank you for everyone’s support and the warm greetings

Probably no more mods till the next paycheck Dec 1. Then I will start the interior and maybe some body work (unless I find some crazy deals on something else)

Talk to you all soon.
