I'm not the wizard here by any stretch but if something is causing the TPS to fail and its not a bad connection, maybe its recieving a high voltage surge from somewhere that's burning it up?
That's a good possibility Yardape. I haven't done the test on the TPS I installed last week to see if it is OK. After work today I will try cleaning the contacts and then I'll go ahead and test it and see what its doing. I suppose I could go buy another TPS and throw it on and see if it starts up. If it does...then your idea would be highly likely. I'd just have to track down where the extra juice was coming from. I think I'll also do a one legged dance and cut a chickens head off before I turn the key. Thanks guys. I'll get back at ya.
when I bought my XJ the battery was really drained and it had similar problems you are having. Considering you have jumped into winter before the rest of us.... have the battery checked and fully charged. It cant hurt for $10. By cranking and cranking you may have gotten the battery god angry at you. Good luck. I get to do the CKS tomorrow morning to see if I am going to get my truck running.... cross your fingers...
