found an s13 hatchback for 900$. no motor or tranny, interior is stripped. it has all glass and all body panels and they are in decent condition. oh ya, its caged with harnesses =]. turns out, an old buddy of mine owns it... the cage is well built, and its on aftermarket suspension... dont remember the brand tho

lol that would be sweet!!

The 240sx is the one of the best platforms for building a tuner. The possiblities are endless. You can swap almost any motor into it. They are cheap to build and cheap to obtain. I have a 240, S15 front swap, roll cage, built SR pushing 400 RWHP. LOVE the SOB.

the driver sucks (me) but at 5000 ft elevation i can run 13 sec flat at 116 MPH in the quarter. It could be a mid 12 car if i could launch it. I am pushing 23 pounds out of GT2871R and i need bigger injectors to get 450

were you the person that swapped in the sr20? if so, how difficult was the swap??

edit: what exactly have you done to the sr? internal work, or just bolt ons? or both?? ive pretty much pulled the trigger on buying a shell, im just trying to figure out a good motor/tranny solution. im not new to mechanics and working on cars, i am however new to working on and tuning tuners..

I had a sr20det in a 510 i blew it up twice after that i rebuilt it and sold the car fast.I did have a r33 neo rb25det in a s13 hatch it was fun but a huge money pit.I would do a ls1 over anything else just because its cheap to get you can get parts for it at 2am at auto zone if needed. There is a few kits to swap a ls1 and t56 in both body style 240sxs.Any engine swap bolting the engine in is the easy part wiring and fuel is the fun part.A sr20det or a rb is fun because its a rhd harness in a lhd so you gotta make some wires longer. But i do recall a company or two you mail them both harnesses the sr one and the cars main one and they make one that fits.

im not looking forward to the wiring stuff, but as far as the fuel goes... if im buying the engine complete, wouldnt the only thing i have to worry about be possibly the fuel pump not being able to feed the motor? in others words, the stock KA fuel pump might not be able to pump enough fuel for the SR?

easy Most SRs engine swaps come with everything you need to put the swap in. The wiring harness / turbo / ECU / Trans / igniter chip / starter / alternator / etc

the motor mounts spots are the same.

you have only three wires that you have to tap into to connect the engine harness to your main body harness (and most importantly) connect to your dash (RPM/speed/fluid temp)

That is the basics and the more i think about it i can get back to you

I have built mine and done all the work myself

The basic swap will be good for 205-250 hp crank (depending on motor)

with intercooler / boost controller / fuel pump we can add 50 HP easy

ya thats a sweet ride!

do you mind if i ask how much $$ you have into it?

to be honest i am not very sure.

I have it in a spreadsheet i could add up for you if you really need it.

Lol don't do it. I roughly know how much money I've thrown into my Jeep, but I would never want to know the exact amount. I don't regret anything, just more of a don't ask don't tell thing.
