best of luck

i had a 20det swap in my 01 sentra, that's a hell of a good motor. i always liked the 240s and the 300s

thanks! i really love the look of the 240 coupe and hatchback, and ya... iknow you can mod asr20 and make it do some interesting things lol

yes, i too like the 300zx's. they are a clean ride. how was it getting the motor into the sentra?

it was done before i bought the car, i got it at a tow yard auction for 1200 bucks. I was pleasantly surprised when i popped the hood after i bought it :D

damn! talk about some luck lol

I had a buddy that wasn't in to tuners. He totaled his truck and had to get something with the little money that he got from ins. We talked him in to a 240 (95 loaded) and it took about two weeks before he ordered full exhaust and a month later he had a SR20det crated to his door.We had a hell of a time getting it together as parts are a mix match from all different kinds of Nissan's here is a site and link to the site we used and a write up on swap and part interchangeability.

Don't be so quick to discount the KA24 they came with. I've got a friend with a 240 he's built for drifting, installed a turbo, decided to go bigger and did some other stuff. Can't remember exact numbers, but he's talking about putting down around 350-400ish horses.

240's are a good platform. I've seen them with all kinds of swaps, autoX'd, drifted, drag raced, and grip raced. They are good candidates for v8 swaps. A buddy down the street has the s14 body style one with a Chevy 355 in it but has recently purchased a VQ45DE Infiniti V8 to swap into it, He also has an S13 that he is doing the full JDM whatever to it and running the KA24 motor it came with. There is a guy in the Indy Area who has a supra motor in his with 800hp at the wheels! I'd be willing to bet if you need to know anything about them you could talk to Child9, he is throwing a 2jz supra motor in his XJ!

a turbo is definitely in the plans, 350hp would be nice, but im not necesarily shooting for that much. id be happy with 200-250. i just want something i can build other then my jeep. the summers are crazy here in bullhead(125 degrees is common) and wheeling the jeep in the summer with no ac is getting a little crazy. im happy with my jeep and it does what i want it too, now i want something low and quick... without being just another guy with an eclipse or civic.

ya i know supra motors can be built for some insane numbers, i had a buddy that had a supra that pushed over 40 lbs of boost.... the thing was QUICK!

 I'd do an LS swap myself! :D

You could easily build the KA for 200-250 horse. Stock in my old 96 Nissan pickup, they made 140 horses at the crank, probably 115ish to the ground. The 240s I think were more powerful. Keeping the KA would make life easier for you when it comes to finding parts or even just getting it running.

that would be a little pricey... but sweet!
i may think about a ford 5.0 tho... my local pick a part has a ton of'em, of course this is all IF i can find a decent 240

i wonder what the overall price difference would be between buying an sr20 from japan(i have a family friend that owns several auto shops who said he could get me any motor i wanted straight from japan...) or just rebuilding and modding the KA motor...

Complete SR20DET wiring and trans. $1899.00

plus intake tubing and inter-cooler so another $150-$250

KA24
$2000 on complete rebuild and replacing internals to handle mod. boost. plus $1200-1500 on a good turbo setup for KA.

We had planed to junkyard shop for a KA to build but after we talked to machinist on cost to rebuild to handle 15-20psi he recommended getting on on eBay and buy complete SR20. We knew of a 94 Sentra SE-R that was totaled. He ended up buying the car and after a week he realized the internals weren't the same as a det so he sold it and ordered one on eBay.
I have ordered a 4E-FTE(Toyota Paseo jdm turbo engine) when i built my Paseo and never had a problem. I would recommend the one in the link and find a inter-cooler you want and have the tubing made at a local shop.

What's the difference between a blacktop and a redtop? I heard that the blacktop is slightly more powerful
