Stepsons ds crapped out, I found a dsi I want to buy for a good price, is it compatible game wise?? I'm so dumb with this stuff.

They claim they are but my oldest daughter's dsi will play some and won't play some games. The dsi's can be connected to a wireless router and updated which is supposed to take care of that issue.

Are you talking about GBA games or DS games? The DSI should play All DS games, backwards compatibility may be an issue with GBA games. Not to confuse the OP...
For the OP, I would assume your boy plays mostly DS games and the DSI will be fine and even an improvement.

No I'm talking about DS games. They said it was fully backwards compatible as you would think but there's a few of the games that my kids have from their old DS's that her DSI would not play.

I am still curious about the DSI not playing DS games. Googling I see plenty of people having problems and the only suggestion is the game may be pirated(bought off ebay) and the DSI is more secure and won't play them. Not saying you pirated any games, but could have come into them without knowing when buying used or from ebay?
I'm on several video game forums and no one has had this issue before with legit DS games.
