Next Chapter meeting.....

I finally got around to checking out the new 4wd shop in town (it's been in business 6 months) and they said they'd be willing to put on a weenie roast for the club if we wanted to meet there. Also, they said they're willing to give a club discount on parts. Right now they charge a 4 hour flat rate for installing a ring and pinion in any vehicle. 4hoursx$69=$276 and includes oil and shop supplies. It's in Longmont, on Boston Ave. 2 blocks west of Main St. (hwy 287). Would this be far enough north for a meeting? All Phase Off Road. They're working on their web sight. www.allphaseoffroad.com

Seems like we skipped the 2nd quarter meeting already. I think we need to either make a better effort to hold the quarterly meetings or just hold them twice a year and schedule them firmly at the beginning. There will always be a reason not to schedule a chapter meeting if they are always scheduled at the last minute. We should never adjourn a chapter meeting without a firm date for the next one. Please understand that we keep lookng for reasons not to have our chapter meetings when we should be looking for reasons to hold them and making them well attended. When you have had as lousy a year as I have had you will understand why I want to rub shoulders with fellow XJ enthusiasts on a regular basis (though for the life of me I can't figure out why  ). Remember that sometimes people can't make it but that's ok, we'll hold more! As far as something positive to add, I would think that combining some of our meetings with a trail run or campout or any such event might help to energize the members to get out.

Ditto... I've been back in the area for about a month now (left for school) and can't wait to hit the tails again! Also looking forward to going to a meeting if one gets off the ground. I'm lifting my Jeep in about a month and a campout or trail ride with a group would be fun.

I'd have to agree with Fatwreck. Let's meet on the trail. Oct is getting a little late in the year for tent camping but hey with Joey stoking the fire it could be a hella blizzard and no one would be cold!

I was in a club that held thier meetings the first Tuesday after the first Wenesday of the month. This avoided conflict with trail runs and camp outs, and holidays on Mondays and Fridays also. So why not pick the first month of the Quarter?
By the way, thier best turn outs were during snow storms.
Pick a day!

Wow Hoss, don't hold back or anything ok? :laugh3:

I hear ya on some of your concerns, but unfortunately, it may be realistic for you, but not for the group. I for one can't commit to a future meeting date during a chapter meeting because I really do need to consult my better half, and my calendar first. And my experience so far has been that we've really only had one "last minute" meeting scheduled that ruffled feathers - so to speak. Also consider that our chapter is still in it's infancy and we're learning as we go. We certainly may find that scheduling meetings for the first month of each quarter is best, or that certain locations draw more attendance than others, or whatever. We'll work it out I'm sure.

As far as holding a meeting on the trail, it sounds like a great idea, but realistically, where on a trail are we going to be able to find a place to park a bunch of rigs and spend time on meeting details? I'm all for holding the meeting early and then have an organized run later, heck that was done once already when we met in Dumont and then some headed to Spring Creek.

I have to disagree with the statement that we look for reasons NOT to hold a meeting. Only once have we ever decided to skip a meeting and that wasn't done without alot of back channel discussion about it among several members. Seems like if we had scheduled a meeting for September, we'd have been blamed for putting together yet another short notice meeting. Led, Joey and I all talked about the 3rd quarter and each of us just had an awful lot going on. Can't hold a meeting without the Chapter Staff now can we?

I appreciate your input Hoss and your desire to participate. With all that said, check my new thread about the next meeting and choose a date. I look forward to seeing you and many others there!
