i bet 90% of the members respond with rubicon express for lift kits, then rusty's.

Try looking here.!! All you want to know about the RE6130...

Get a 3" lift, add MJ shackles and a factory coil isolator, run 31" tires and spend around $1,200 total (get some 4.75" backspace rims and get good tires). This will give you good offroad capability without material impact to daily driveability.

Spend some of the money you have left on underbody armor and bumpers.

Then take a nice vacation with the remaining cash.

Try a search... all the info is here in one form or another.

if you want to run 33s, especially on NorCal trails, you're going to need to swap the rear axle and the front shafts. You're also going to want to re-gear, and put some lockers in while you're at it. There goes about $1500 of you budget and you haven't even got tires, wheels, or a lift.

I recommend starting with a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift with full leaf packs, 31x10.50 tires, tow points, and skid plates. That would be about $1500 and take you some surprising places. Wheel it for a while, learn to drive offroad, get stuck a few times, then figure out how you want to upgrade more. Then just by adding a little to your existing lift and trimming the fenders you could run up to 35s.

Check out the Sierra Chapter board, come to some Meet n Greets and some trail runs and just sit back and learn for a while.

I don't think $2500 will be enough for what you want. 3 years and over 7k later still not done. Might as well save some more and get what you want and do it right the first time, cost less in the long run that way. You needs lots more than just lift and wheels. I was in the same boat. besides it never ends you probably will never "complete" your project

can you weld? do you have a welder? do you trust your life with your welds?

if the answer to all these is yes, then you can definitely do what you want for under $2500, if not then you're best off sticking with 31s. And the Rusty's is decent, but if you just get the RE it will be the last set of springs you ever need, then you can just add spacers to get 4.5" when you eventually go to 33s or 35s.
