Im located in Jasper, GA 65 miles north of Atlanta in the north GA Mtns. Thanks !!!!

Charlie's creek clos to Clayton & Bend N Hickory road (aka Dodd road) close to Toccoa. Easy trails for your Jeep.

We are also getting a ride together next month for Gulches ORV park in Laurens, SC. And Glenn (Ghost) will be heading to Uwharrie sometime soon as well.

April 5th is a big weekend for URE. I'll be up there for a day trip. Come on up and hang out! Post in the thread if you plan on coming and we can get together.

Except the part where they keep turning all the hard trails into dirt roads.

Look don't you start too. Tellico is gone. Why? Because the forest rangers didn't want to deal with us and SFWD didn't organize enough and do enough volunteer work days and show the rangers our time and trails get them money! We have to do what is necessary to keep the trails open. If that is paving them with dirt and rocks every so often to make the powers that be happy so be it. :confused1 Uwharrie is an awesome place to wheel. Why? Because its only about 2 hours away and an easy day trip. You want a challenge. Go drive it with open open and street tires. :rof:

Hey guys thanks for the info!! Ghost what is URE... Would love to ride up and meet you guys and hang out

Big Jamboree there on the 5th. Worth the trip IMHO. If you decided to try and go let me know back channel and we will trade numbers. I'm doing a day trip. Might have my stock jeep and the ghost.

URE = Uwharrie National Forest in NC. People type out "U-R-E" because that's what the word sounds like, but definitely doesn't look like it says that lol. It's a great spot to wheel; one of the best in the Southeastern US.

This is URE.... And IMHO a very true statement.....

I understand why it has to be done... It's just frustrating that it has to be done to please certain folks. I don't understand why they don't make legal bypasses for the difficult trails and leave some of the challenge there. Install drainage traps to handle the erosion.

I love Uwharrie but now that Kodak is closed and it appears they've all but paved the more difficult areas of the place I'm not sure it's worth the effort to drag the trail Jeep back up there.

When I go back I'll more than likely be in the green Jeep.

Unfortunately it's just the "ebb" in the ebb & flow of our sport. Greenies (and the USFS) don't like to see lands heavily eroded. I can understand that. Yes it sucks that the trails will be easy for a while, but they'll be great again before you know it. I can remember when Beasley was all but smooth dirt roads once upon a time. Now you can't tell that there's ever been any earth moving equipment there at all.....ever. It's a necessary evil that we have to deal with in order to continue to enjoy our sport; we're not the only ones with a stake or interest in what happens out there so we can't only be concerned with what our point of view is.

Like mentioned, you have a lot of FS roads around you. Feel free to join Georgia trail riders. We have a ride once a month at a park in the SE if you want to hit the trails with us.
