Thought we could start over without the anger so people actually want to get together and have fun. Shall we start again. Please post here for possible winter run dates. Sorry for any hyjacking of a thread.

I know I can't make Nov. 27-30 as my wife would burn down my XJ for missing out on family stuff, but besides the 25 of December, I should be in good shape.

I'll be home (near Auburn and Grass Valley) mid December through mid January. My MJ is there and ready to go. besides the normal holiday stuff, my schedule is wide open for lots of snow wheelin and snowboarding. I probably wouldn't be up for driving down to the Fresno area trails (Bald Mt.), around Tahoe would be better.

I can't make it but I know a bunch that are going to
"Nov 13th Cow Mountain 4X4 Challenge"

More info here

Not the hardist of wheeling but I heard there will be three pro rock buggy's at the cow mountain compatition. I guess some local clubs got together and built a small obsticle course with telephone polls cement and a large amount of boulders...

Dan might be in and I'm in so far for a snow run to Malokoff Diggins/Bowman Lake starting in Nevada City off of hwy 49 for next sat the 13th. We can meet at Sam's Club off of Greenback in Citrus Heights at 8:30 a.m. I have a membership so I can get you guys some cheap gas (not really cheap, but cheaper than the competition). Then we can drive in a xj/mj pack to the trailhead in Nevada City. Nice day run. Should be a decent amount of snow with the amount of rain we have been getting at sea level lately.

Depending on what/where you guys run... I might be up.

I say might because there aint no way Im gonna have my axle swap/lift even started before the end of january. Which means im still more or less stock... and I aint buyin chains for my 235's when I have 35's sitting in the garage.

Sooooo.... if you guys do something where wouldn't be a hindrance to the group, im prolly in.... we'll see.

I'd love if you came jm, I will not leave you stranded bro. As long as you have 4 wheel drive, that's cool and maybe some recovery points front and rear. No matter how prepared your rig, you will probably get stuck in the snow if it is pretty deep. I kept getting stuck with 35" mtrs and needed to winch the 2 times I went on the run last year. Do you guys want to meet at Sam's Club in CH off of Greenback at 8:30 a.m. Sat 13th? We can fuel up and then travel in a pack to the trail. I love the look people give us as we invade an area with a large group, it's so awesome. :laugh3:

Brett we have to get your truck stuck while you're out here in Cali. :) Put some dates/where up on a thread and we'll try to get a group to wheel with you. You have a long Winter Break huh? :)

Just curious, how much tire pressure are you guys running? i find 5 psi is perfect with my MTR's. As long as I crawl an have zero wheel spin, I can navigate the deepest snow.

Yep, 4 or 5 seems to work good. You can really float over stuff. That PSI works well in sand too. ;)

Do you run this just in the snow? 10-12 psi on the Con/Fordyce? I now have 35" X-Terrains so hopefully they will do good in the snow/rocks/mud etc. The MTRs don't do that good in Prairie City mud/clay. I think with the directional pattern the XT's are going to be good diggers. My bro has bias 35" Baja Claws which I think will eat up the snow and mud, very aggresive tire pattern:)

Back on topic:
So who else can do a day run next Sat the 13th to Bowman Lake? I'm hoping to have some snow for us to go through, at least some mud. If it doesn't have alot of snow we can do Red Dog around Grass Valley.

Who's doing the Winter Fun Fest 1/14-16? It's $70/person before 12/15, $80/person after. I think the price is a bit steep especially since the Bowman Lake trail is 1 of the trails used for this event. But if we have a decent NAXJA group thinking of going, what the heck. "FrostBite Extreme" is the Big Dog event with probably magazine coverage.

That's way too much pressure. You need your tire to actually grip the snow, if you can not leave a thread pattern. Either your tires have too much pressure or your driving too fast.

I find if I start to spin, just back up about a foot or two and then reattack it, slowly. You pack down the snow and float. Digging deep is for those full size guys.

As far as X-terains, I don't know one person who can truely claim anything good about them. Goodluck, hopefully they don't leave you stuck out there in the cold wilderness, :shiver:, DO YOU GUYS SEE WHERE I"M GOING WITH THIS? :D

I'm still up for my dates, I think they were Jan 15 and Jan 22. My house seems to be coming along pretty well and I have time to get my junk fix this month.

So put Bald Mtn on your calenders! Like I said, anyone can make this into more than just a 4WD run. Sierra Summit has some decent ski runs and of course your families can have a ton of fun in the snow!

I'll post up when we get into the New Year.

You're so kind Chuck. I think I could get myself back to civilization and get online to torment all you guys. :laugh3: I hear the X-Terrains do good and I got them really cheap used. I had to put my mtrs on my yj to trade for the cj on 37" mtrs. Anyways back on topic, who can make it next weekend for a snow run?

Who's in/who out for this weekend??

Dan might be out, waiting for the lift kit to come. Don't you hate when you only get 1/2 the stuff and the other 1/2 is on backorder or something. :)

Depending on interest, we could do it this Sat or another Sat/Sun. I'm busy the 20th helping someone move. Can anyone break away from the bird and wheel 11/25-28?

Should be lots of snow up there in the Sierras. Who's in for this Saturday going to Malkoff Diggins/Bowman Lake?

Prairie City should also be nice and muddy for anyone wanting to go there too. I'll bring a hose so we can get all the mud off our rides in their gravel parking lot before we head back on the street.

Hey BR, let me educate you a bit.

This is a simple planning thread, it purpose is to simply throw out an idea or two. You post where you might want to go and maybe when. It is to stir a little interest, not necessarily to nail specific run details.

If your ready to nail down details start another thread an talk about nothing except that run(Where, when, and details about equipment needed). Don't mix it with other runs, don't add insignificant details about your personal life and be patient. I have had many run threads, most of them flopped, mostly because my junk failed or LIFE had gotten in my way. If SC wants to run with you they will show up or post up.

Otherwise if you see a run posted. Say your going, tell us what you can contribute (like food or something), and maybe if you have direct expierence with the trail, please share. Pictures from previous times are great.

BR, I hope you take this to heart. Please take a break from all the extra posts, this a forum, not a chat room. I know it can seem that way and many of the SC members joke and jab and have fun. I'm not saying not to post, but try to be more focused. Your posts have really confused and irritated us lately.

O.k. thanks Chuck, I appreciate your honesty and will watch my posts in the future. I mean educate not to irritate you guys. We've got a good group here.

I don't think your paying attention, Billy wants to go wheeling, you posted on his thread. If you don't like Billys thread then start your own. This is a pretty simple concept. Pleae re-read my post and try again. :banghead:
