New Tools advice

So I got $250 to Sears.

I want to buy new tools.

I was thinking of getting one of those toolboxes that has like 300pcs but then thought maybe buying everything in a separate case would be handy, e.g. metric ratchet in a case, SAE in it's own, etc.

I have an assortment of screwdrivers, pliers and have a Kobalt ratchet set with metric/SAE and deepwell sockets. So far, this has been more than satisfactory for my needs.

I'm wondering if I should get another set of ratchets in their separate cases, a set of crescent wrenches (Mexican Toolboxes), and some ratcheting wrenches?

This is the one I bought a few years ago, and it's been awesome. It has a separate drawer for 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" which sounds kind of like what you want.

I have a set like this one but in this case:

I bought it 4 or 5 years ago and it goes on every wheeling trip I have ever been on.... well except one. It is by for the best deal IMHO. All 3 sizes in one case seperated in each drawer. In mine the top is 1/2 drive, second is 3/8's drive and the 3rd drawer is 1/2 drive.

wanker's kit is the best

i'm assuming you already have SOME tools.

a good set of channel locks or crapsman arc-joint pliers will go a LONG long way.

there is not much that you need pliers for that you cant do with those.

the channel lock brand is the best but craftsman is also pretty decent. i loaned one of my craftsman 12" out while we were on the trail (MONTHS AGO) and i just got them back, with a catch...they're not mine. they're a worn out set of husky.

and the teeth are softer. so somethings its okay to chince on but other things you should really get the good stuff.

depending on what you plan on doing you may want to get a pickle for if you dont have one.

there's some other things but i cant keep my train of thought right now.

Yes, I have some tools.

I bought some el cheapo vice grips as HF and the teeth were so soft that I couldn't even use them.

I see that Evolv tools are made by Craftsman, too, and have a lifetime warranty. Maybe could get some high quality tools for not as much dollars?
