LOL - well I would hope that everyone's questions would be answered in a timely manner...but thanks for the compliment. ;)

I took "her" for a spin yesterday (is it PC to call it a "she" or are all XJ's male??), and as I sped up, right around 3rd gear, a loud squeaking noise sounded like it was coming right out of the hood near the windshield. I almost turned around and came home, but as I came to a stop, the noise went away. Then it happened again on this massive hill as I was going down. At the stopsign, the noise went away. I'm thinking I didn't warm it up enough and some belt was going haywire. The clutch was fine and she wasn't straining at all - just some random noise.

It's not PC - just correct. Vehicles, like animals, tools, and anything else, have personalities. Oddly, we have two "males" (Beck and Clyde) and two "females" (Bonnie and Rizz)

I'm going to play around in the interior today. The top fabric is barely held on with thumbtacks so I'm ripping it out. The red interior has also got to go eventually - I look like a friggin' Christmas tree driving through town! :D And no, I was kidding about the pink...she'll stay green for a while. It's really just something to get me through this next month while my fiance's out playing in the ocean and I figure out what happens to the Hybrid. I honestly hope it gets totalled. After I got it home, it wouldn't start at all. Considering I was rear-ended and the battery is in the trunk, I'd say there's quite a bit of damage. Honda won't replace that battery if that's the case. I was told it's the single most expensive piece Honda makes - it'll be cheaper just to total it.

Thanks for explaining some terms, 5-90. Was your wife into Jeeps before she met you or did they kind of grow on her? I don't think Matt's (my fiance) plan was to get me to like Jeeps before I'd marry him - that's just icing on the cake! I do feel safer in it - I know that if I'm ever rear-ended again by an F-150, I won't feel like I swallowed my teeth and get knocked in to the oncoming traffic lane.

She'd always wanted one (about as long as I did - since 1987 or so...) and my having bought the first and knowing how to work on it was just a good excuse. We got rid of the Caravan (damn mini-van!) and bought the 89 Limited. Order of accession: 87, 89 Limited, 88, 89. I think the only non-Jeep truck I still want to get is an M35A2 (google that, you'll be surprised!) and an M151 MUTT (ditto - but this one for run-abouts.) I just found out she was interested after I bought mine (we'd been married for a couple years by then.)

You say your fiance's out "playing in the ocean" - you about to be a Navy wife? I spent my time in the Air Force - on the road about 28 days out of 30. Small wonder I waited until now to get married - kinda hard to sustain a relationship in fits and starts. If you can make a Navy marriage work, you're among the few (and if you can make it continue after he gets out, you're one of the even fewer!)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think by greenie, she means environmentally green...seeing as to how the prior vehicle was a hybrid. Congrats on the new XJ, too bad it had to come at the expense of getting rear ended...
There were a few reasons she chose that name, the green jeep, living in the evergreen state, being green to Jeeps, but your guess is the most significant reason! She drives a hybrid and my Jeeps have all been LPG, we pick up trash when we hike, recycle religiously, and I'm from Colorado and she's from Germany so we're just kinda green all around. When the time comes to freshen up the 2.5L, it'll get the propane treatment as well if I get my way :D .

Oh yeah, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm her fiance'! Getting her this Jeep wasn't an easy decision. Ok, that's a lie, but it sounds better than the truth. Her Hybrid was hit pretty hard to knock her from a dead stop across two lanes of oncoming traffic, but the cosmetic damage isn't totalling. If any of ya'll are bodymen you can see that it's repairable.

I was suspicious of the battery right away, but the smell that the car makes whenever the battery is assisting the engine and the fact that it completely discharges overnight confirms this with me. But try explaining that to an insurance adjuster and you quickly get the feeling you're beating your head against a wall! Fortunately the bodyshop recommended by the ins. co has more brains and refused to touch it until the battery was removed at the dealership. After the car has sat for 3 and a half weeks at the dealership because everybody is afraid to touch it I realized that this was going to be a long and painful process ("90% of our customers say that our claims service is fast and fair" my left butt cheek they do!). So I started to look around for a third car for us.
After narrowing it down to a 91 Bonneville, a 88 Bronco and the Chero, I decided that the chero would be the easiest for me, um, I mean "us" to fix and/or upgrade, the most efficient, the most reliable (admit it, AMC at least knew how to build an engine!), and it would infect her with the "Jeep thing" disease and she would understand why I need to throw money at the rusty pile of steel in the backyard! :D

The best part about her posting, other than being a new addition to the board, is that she was ABLE to post pics in her VERY FIRST POST!
Werd! I have to admit, I was kinda suprised myself! :P

You otter not play in freezing cold glacier lakes, unless of course, you're an otter (ok, that was cheesy, I admit it)

And lastly, my rusted Jeep junk, future recipient of my monster propane 401!woohoo!

Thank you all for giving my Annie a warm welcome. I'm a member of ifjsa (FSJ Thing) and really wanted her to find a club (support group) like I have for her and her XJ and it looks like she found it without a whole lot of hassle! Thanks again, and please don't tell her to suck up MY Jeep funds to modify her XJ, I can barely afford to throw money at my own Chero! :)
