In every section, all of the thread titles are in bold, implying they have been responded too since my last visit, and this happens even if i log out, then back in. Didnt know if this was part of the upgrade that has not been sorted out yet or not. Just letting someone know...

Are the picture/icon indicators working? That is the best way to tell if a category has new posts.

Once in the category, bold/non-bold should be a good indicator.

Most likely, a majority of them "are" new to you.. in that the forum now uses a database true marking system, rather than cookies. Hit the "Mark Forums Read"

That really depends on your surfing habits and personal preferences. If you hit "Mark Forums Read", it will mark them all as read, but next time you visit, any new threads are marked as new via the icon. The threads that you do not read will continue to show as unread until you either read them, or have the forums mark them as read.

Thanks. I just returned and the "read" threads have reset but since I do not read all threads it will be a little extra work. Cookie tracking was something I had become accustomed to.

I have setup and admin a few different forums and I’m curious what the benefit of the true marking system is?

cookies are time and PC based. The database method is a true read it or not read it (unless you click on Mark Read), and is based on Username.

Ok I have tried this for a bit.

Now some constructive feedback if you’re interested.

As someone that utilized the cookie method the new method which requires manual reseting of unread threads this is not convenient and not inviting.

Its a good idea in theory but there needs to be a way to mark as read an individual forum, or better still a single page, or even a quick way to mark threads read without opening.

There is such a tool available. When you open an individual forum cat., simply mark it read by dropping down the menu for Forum Tools and select "Mark This Forum Read".
Cheers
