that almost it, if im sitting there, move the steering column, it bogs down like its going to die. i shift into gear, it just dies. then i have to smack the dash to get it going fire again. Now im assuming its a ground, just want to run this by a few other people. The new Alpine is out and im going to try to find a better ground, but i dont have a ground tester, anybody know a good spot in there? Any ideas or a good ground.

Thanks

Sounds like a ground/wiring problem to me too. I don't know about yours, but my 2001 has a pretty decent factory ground from the stock radio that I tapped into. I looked around while I was in there for other options, but it looks like a ton of plastic. Run a ground through the firewall up to the radio to be sure. Also, make sure the unit isn't shorting out through it's casing for some reason.

I found the power lead wrapped around the piece of metal that just kinda hanging around on the upper side. the ground is a poor lead but it'll do till im somewhere i can work on it better. and i replaced a piece of plastic, didnt know what it was when it dropped but it was the piece on inside the steering column, there is some wires on the left it protects, wipers i guess. other than that, all is fine. thanks for the insight.
