Good day for the Jeep today. One of our techs pulled my Jeep in the shop. Got my Flowmaster and turndown from my old Jeep installed. Then he fabbed up some rear upper shock mounts, I now have shocks on all four corners. Woooo Hoooo.

BONUS: When I got home, I popped under the Jeep to have a look. I must have depressed a button on my remote just right in my pocket. The Jeep fired up! Color me surprised! I never knew I had remote start.

Went out for a short easy run in the National Forest with a few friends today. I wanted an easy/scenic trail, as I have not yet bumpstopped/trimmed for my tires/lift.

The day started cold, had ice on my windshield this morning. A short trip up the mountain, then hit the trails. Was a nice day and the sun warmed things up nicely. Got to use 4wd a couple times, and ripped one fender flare off. I should have borrowed Miwicos donuts!

We got to one of the few legal obstacles on this trail. I drove just past it and parked. My friend gave it a hell of a go, and got a huge SNAP in his rear D44. No power to the drivers rear. Either broke the locker or snapped an axle shaft.

We decided to call it, and I would follow him out so the others could continue.

I forgot to bring a CD. Up in the mountains, I lose all signals from the good stations. :bawl: For some reason, the country music station works up there. :banghead:

Haha, i feel your pain, some areas out here are all mariachi music or christian rock on the radio.

Knock on wood, but day 1 was enjoyable. The XJ drove nice, no issues.

Between radio stations, we listened to some Tom Petty.

I tracked miles and gallons of fuel, and was pleasantly surprised to average 16mph between Albuquerque and Kingman with speed limits of 75 mph. Have not fuelled since Kingman, so no idea what the MPG is on the 65/55 leg so far.

Breakfast and visit with my sister tomorrow, then on to SoCal.

In the Phoenix area for the night. A few friends and family to visit tomorrow, then head back to Albuquerque.

Temps have stayed perfect, oil pressure is still good, though the engine is making a bit more noise... sounds like it has marbles in it. LOL. She runs strong and can pull grades with the AC running. What a change from my last XJ.

MPG trip average is 17 MPG, better than I expected.

The pass from Phoenix to Payson Arizona caused a bit of grief. Looked out the rear view mirror and saw a cloud of smoke trailing me. Pulled off and trans fluid was running out of the bellhousing. I was pushing it too hard on a 90 degree day up the last climb of the pass.

Let it cool down a bit, adjusted fluids and continued on. It took me a couple of hours driving to stop checking for smoke every second or two. It made it the rest of the way to Albuquerque with no issues. I was nervous for a bit there, thinking the front trans pump seal had let go.

Going to order a nice trans cooler for it today or tomorrow.

Had a new windshield installed in it yesterday. :eyes:

Spend a little bit of time on the front brakes today.
