New Long Arm Kit out

STEELFISH said:
you can buy it direct off of BDS' website but somwhere around 2400-2500ish.....along with the Life time no fine print warranty,,, so go tear it up right?
that's awefully expensive.

hmmm. i wonder if they'll sell the long arms as a sperate kit instead of a full lift kit. cant wait for more details

looks like a decent kit, adjustable lowers and they are not hanging down too far and it also looks like the mounting would be stout with that crossmember and such, i like the idea of the uppers off the crossmember, i guess we will wait and see how it works out. it looks like a good midrange heigth (5-6.5") longarm setup

for what its worth, my opnion here (coming from a full traction long arm guy)..

BDS makes some of the Best leafs. I would but that leaf pack before ANY RE pack! Military wrap, telon pads, better supplier of leafs to name a few).

BDS has a awesome warranty. (one reason for above).

But other then that. WHy would you want the kit above for the same money as a Full Traction?

The one piece crossmember is the worst of both worlds (TnT and full traction). Hangs just as low as a FT kit, but you have to drop both uppers AND lowers to get the TC crossmember out.

There doesnt appear to have a trackbar mount included, and with the drop pitman arm it comes with, look at the angles in the picts of it installed on thier site. Bad geometry.

And the lowers are both urethane bushing'ed. Should have at least one uniball/cartridge end. IMO

ok well so would I ever buy this kit, hell no. I WILL buy a set of thier rear leafs though, in the next few months...

one kid I know has a BDS 6" lift on his s-10 zr2. He jumped it hard and bent on the brackets for the front crossmember. He emailed a pic to them and the rep said "congradulations, A new one is on its way" GOOD Customer Service

one thing i do like is that the crossmember looks a lot simpler than the Full traction setup, but it sucks you have to remove the suspension to remove the crossmember...
i wish it was a hybrid between the the 4 link and the RE crossmember which you can take out the crossmember and leave the suspension.

big fan of 4 links

I ran a 4" BDS lift on my YJ. I hated it. It is heavy duty yes. But their leafs didnt flex worth a damn. Also their warrenty isnt all the we will replace anything no questions asked. I broke the smallest leaf in the pack right in half at the center pin hole, which then snapped the center pin and my axle was moving all over the place. They wouldnt replace the leaf or the leaf pack.

I have to disagree. The full traction are independant of the crossmember. Each bracket for the lowers is very easy to install and the upper brackets are just a bit more difficult because they are inside the frame rail some. But all in all the brackets should be able to be installed in about a hours time. You will spend twice as long cutting the old off then putting the new on. I didnt deciede to bolt it all on though. I simply bolted the brackets on with the crossmember bolts then marked every location of holes in the brackets for bolts to the frame, then removed them and flap disk'ed the frame rails and then put them back on and plug weleded every hole for a bolt to the frame, and did 2" stich welds all around each bracket to the rails.

Now I can simply just remove the TC member if need be, no differnet then stock except 2 extra bolts per side, and if I need to remove a upper arms its only one bolt (yes a 8-9" bolt though) or lower its only one bolt.

Okay, so has anybody else noticed that in the pic of all the parts that the trackbar has a TRE, But the pic of the kit on the Green XJ has a replacement trackbar bracket and a trackbar similiar to the RE HD unit?

awesome! thanks for clearing the water on that one, i have only seen a few pics of a full traction setup, and it looked confusing as hell with the brackets in the framerail. its good to know the crossmember will come out easily.

know where i can get just the long arm upgrade from full traction?

You can't. AFAIK they still haven't released the front components seperatly. They we're also not that nice on the phone to me when i asked about it just the front section, they basically told me that the ONLY way to get it was to buy the whole kit. Well i did the ONLY other thing i could then. built one myself.
