I go to school in Colorado Springs and will be driving my '91 XJ out here after christmas break. I just wanted to get my name out there so maybe i can get a few (ok, so maybe alot) questions answered down the road. I plan to start building in february/march timeframe, so more to come then. I don't know if you can recommend a shop on here, but if you can, i'm looking at having some engine work done before I start building so any recommendations of good jeep or offroad shops here in town that does good work would be great. I didn't know if i should put this under tech or here.....so i chose here, sorry if it's the wrong forum, i'm still getting over my "first post" jitters. Haha, thanks for any advice.

Welcome aboard! Yes, this is the place to ask questions of a local nature.

There is a good group here. Frank Z is still breaking in his stroker. He can give you a lot of great local info for the Springs, along with quite a few others there.

Word. Welcome aboard.:yelclap:

I'm looking at around 6" of lift, D44 rear, 35's and i was gonna try and talk to a shop about different options for engine work, bored, ported, balanced, or maybe just rebuilt. I'm just wanting to know what options are out there and about what price range. I've got access to a pretty nice shop so I plan on doing most of the suspension work myself or with friends. Thanks for the welcomes.

Sounds like you might want to research building a stroker out of your existing motor. It's a sweet upgrade over a stock 4.0L. Are you planning on doing the motor assembly yourself or are you looking for a shop to do it all?

Dana44's are a great upgrade but the cost of a buildable axle can get a tad pricey. There are a few u-pull-it yards around here, but you'll have to be there at just the right time.

Don't forget to allow for regearing, lockers, master install kits and rattle-can to complete the job.

Welcome!! Good luck with the build. See ya around.:NAXJA:

Looked up the stroker idea. Might have to get put farther down the list of things to do. As far as the axle goes, i was gonna try and pull one that i can bolt up fairly easily without too much modifications.....ideally.

90xj4x4: I'm orginally from AR but moved around a bit. I'm at a small technical school here in the springs for two more years. So when i get this done, hopefully i'll be able to finally get out on some of these colorado trials.
