I've always liked the old school emblems on the Cherokee Chiefs. May not be exactly PC in some people's minds nowadays, but I've decided to create my own version...basically copying the original design but adding an XJ twist to it. The idea is to cast two of these out of aluminum and attach them to the front fenders as shown.
Original plan was to sand cast the parts, but I think the detail in the lettering is too small to get good results, so I'll try investment casting.
So far I've created a 3D model, printed a copy, and made wax positives using a silicone mold. Next step is to embed the wax positives into plaster of paris, melt the wax out, and cast in aluminum. If the results come out halfway decent (or even if they don't) I'll post up more pics of what I ended up with.
