New '88 MJ

Don't use the XJ shackle because it's too short? Limits the rear movement?

yeah, seems like it would to me. With more heavily arched MJ leafs you need the longer shackle for them to actually compress/droop fully, the heavy arch results in more length change for the same amount of vertical change.

I was wondering about that but I was hoping it would work.

it'll work, it just won't flex as much and won't ride as well.

I want it to ride good but I'm not too concerned with flex right now. Something to ponder on....

Thanks for the input guys.

This'd be a good question to ask the CC group - I'm sure at least one of them has done this.

Don't get to looking at all the projects and stuff, you'll only become depressed that you dont have enough money to do all the things you want. ha.

I've been looking there to see if I can find the answer before I ask the question.

I know what you mean, there are alot of things you can do to one of these.

Well, I haven't actually worked on the MJ any but I did get a bench seat and a couple pieces of plastic, gray in color, for a start to my new interior.

I have a line on a gray dash also. I'm gonna need the rear side plastic though. Those may be hard to find.

In grey?

I'll see what I can do, though shipping is gonna be a killer - I *think* my local yard still has at least one MJ and it might be a grey interior. Know anyone who's going to NACFest?

Yep, gray. I can't stand the Tan interior. Personal preference ya know.:)

Thanks!

Same. Grey and black are the ones I like the most, though I could settle for a maroon interior if I had to... seen a lot of MJs with that, but not many XJs at all.

Mark I have a 91 xj with grey interior if you need anything brought up.

Ghost, are you parting the Jeep?

Ghost, are you parting the Jeep?

It's perty much been parted. Only thing left is the hood, all doors, and interior stuff.

my red mj had had a tree fall on it, crushing the cab and destroying a bunch of interior parts. when i got it, the bodywork had been done to make it look good from the outside, but all of the plastic on the driver side had been replaced with some golden brown pieces that were even uglier than the tan. i sprayed all of them with gloss black, and armor-all'ed the whole interior. you couldn't even tell i had done it. if you can't find the parts you need, spray paint could solve your problems!
