Hello all XJ peeps!!
I'm having problems getting my new speed calibrator set. The directions are kind of difficult to understand and calling Jet for tech support is very nerve racking. Are they all a**holes?
All did was change on my 99 Cherokee sport stock tires to 33x12.50's. What I understood from the instructions was 4 full turns to the right on the adjusting screw. NNNaahh. Can I adjust this thing counterclockwise and clockwise until set while driving it, or do I need to be a math wiz ? The Jet tech said something about a -8 turn calculation but I dont read that applying to me- I didnt change any gears.
Can anyone here provide me some insight to this dilema? I'm kicking myself for not getting the true speed calibrater instead. I here its simple and simple is very good!
Thanks!
Mike

Sorry to break it ya man, but all you need is a speedo gear. Less than $20 from the dealer and 5 minutes of wrenchin, and you can ditch the JET unit.

try a search

lol, yeah, same as above, sorry bud, but take a socket and a wratcht to the dealer, buy the gear, change it in the parking lot, rip out all that JET crap, throw the JET stuff and the old gear in the dealer trash can(so you don't have to take out the trash at home!) and then laugh at the jeep dealer guy when he gives you this dumbfounded look like (this guy just fixed his jeep in our parking lot) and drive off. At least that's my suggestion. And to top it all off, your speed will be instantly calibrated (with the correct toothed gear installed). Good luck bud.

Thanks for the help. I tried 1 dealership about purshasing a gear for my jeep and they insisted that my jeep year is all electronic and the part is obsolete. The 2nd dealer that I talked to responded differently and was helpful. The gear costs $11.
Why is everthing so difficult?

My gear cost me $27 cause my local dealer is fixated on screwing me with list price on everything.
Wow! That sucks. My dealership sold me the gear I needed for $9.88 + tax!

Hate to break it to the original poster, but you should have saved your money and just swapped speedo gears. Doing the swap is just about the most dead-simple job there is on a Jeep. If you have a 13mm wrench and the mechanical expertise to add windshield washer fluid by yourself, you can swap speedo gears.
