It's not a Jeep but i figure there's alot of MOPAR Freaks out there that might know the solution to my problem.

I've got a '98 Dodge Dakota R/T, 5.9 auto. yesterday it flashed a random misfire in #4 & #7 cylinder code. Today I put new plugs, an Accel coil, Accel cap and rotor, and a set of Taylor 8mm wires on it. Now it has a bad high rpm miss. checked firing order, its ok. Checked all connections, their ok. Don't really know where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check compression... if that doesn't turn anything up, not sure what to do. Any other codes? Any exhaust system damage? Clogged cat?

Fortunately 4 and 7 are on separate heads, so I doubt you have a head gasket leak.

I moved this to the "other tech" as it fits in better there.

Well, there's an easy (hopefully) way to find out... I'm not too familiar with the Dakota, is there a flange you can disconnect in the exhaust between where the O2 sensors are installed and where the cats are? If there is, just unbolt the exhaust past that point and drop it down, if the miss goes away, you know you have an exhaust obstruction downstream of where you disconnected it.

Its been a long time since I messed with the 5.9 motors but I recall something about either the EGR valve getting hung open or the passages clogging up causing drivability issues.

I'm sorry I can't be more help.
