Need help with my chick bike!

My 01 suzuki katana 750 won't start. The starter goes at it until the bat dies. I've tried hooking up my jeep to the bike and trying to jump it thinking the bat didn't have enough umph to turn her over but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Step 1 check the gas tank
Step 2 make sure the gas petcock is turned on
Step 3 pull a plug and see if you are getting spark and the shape of the plugs
Step 4 check the voltage at the coils, make sure you are getting 12v there.
Step 5 Don't ever jump a bike with a 12 car battery that size. Thats a real quick way to fry the frame wiring...
Go buy a shop manual for it, most bike manuals are fairly cheap. NOT chiltons or Haynes, get a real zuki manual..

Problem solved. Thanks for help guys, I eneded up just needing a new battery even though it was still going, it just didn't have enough to get the job done.

It must've had enough umph to turn it over only once or twice if that is truly what fixed it, and also, if so-check those jumper cables you were trying to use, they may be defective too. No way can you convince anyone that is all that it took to fix it if the jumper cables actually worked.:dunno:

Wanna drag race that fearsome monster against my 30 year old air cooled 2 valve Kawi antique? My starter keeps falling off..it lands in a cart looking thing with 2 batteries in it. And the fuel milage sux..i only get 1/4 mile per fill up.....Just foolin with yah...glad yah got it going..it's prime ridin' weather right now...but it DOES suck to hit a junebug at about 166....
