Need a Subaru lift and a Machine gun?

That was hot!!!!

Ive seen a few of them older Subaru's lifted around here, and man do they look funny. Would be cool to buy one for $500, lift it for $400, and add some used tires for $200, and have your self an $1100 rally machine tho. Imagine some of the looks you'd get out on the trail.

i've gone wheeling with a couple lifted loyales... honestly, they really surprised the hell out of me!!

$200 for used tires. I got new tires for $200. This was 6 years ago, but I paid less than $50 for a set of used 30s. I've even got free used tires- "I'll take em off your hands, no charge" before.

That sucks back in the day when I acctually had a Gl and wheeled it nothing like that was avalible. That was one tough car. and the 4wd was good for that kind of vehical.

Should would like to know where you can get a quality off road tire for $50 a pop.

Definetly not at Americas Tire/Discount tire thats for sure. I'm not talking about BF goodrich or name brands and I'm not talking about large sizes. I have had only bad luck with the name brands but the Dominator Radials A/T I bought in 2001, at $50/ea went 50k miles, I took them off because another truck needed tires and they fit so I got new tires on the Jeep, the truck got old tires and still has them. Off brands are still required to conform to DOT specs anyway so whats the big deal?

This was Discount tire, which also used to sell used tires stacked in front of the store. They have since fallen into my disfavor, now theyre Americas Tire. I know thats not 2005 prices but heres the deal:
-go to non-corporate places, theres some places around here-Amigo Tire, Joels Tire- that have back page news ads, cheap.
-junkyards
-Used tires shops that sell only used or off brand tires. Cheap when I had my Toyota p/u. Corona Used Tires, don't know if still in business but youll have better luck if you speak spanish. Try those type places.
-Check your local parts trader or vehicle trader mags for ads. I priced a set of Pirelli Scorpions 30-31 this summer at $100 each the 4th is free, Evans Tires (chain). I diddn't buy them because they don't offer free road hazard warranty but the store (america's) off-balanced, under inflated and left loose nuts on 2 seperate occasions when I went in for warranty.
-Theres no way I'd pay $200 for used tires for a Subaru, which are going to be passenger car sizes anyway (even if lifted, its a Subaru) therefore cheaper.

I think some models have a locking rear diff...

A buddy of mine bought his for 900, was driving one day and found a switch, switched it, low and behold if a light on his dash didn't start blinking and next thing he knew he was locked up in the rear. I don't think he quit laughing for at least a couple hours.

He told me it came standard on a few models. I know his is an 88...
