********SORRY Thread title should say "Need 91' FSM i'll buy it"***********

Some of you might remember my electrical issue...Engine control fuse blows. The stupid d*mm, shi%ty 30 amp fuse in the PDC. This fuse has blown ONLY on the trail and on a steep incline while climbing. Of course while climbing the engine is under a good amount of load...maybe alot of load. dont really know yet if it's the load or the angle causing a short, angle maybe rubbing a wire just right (OR WRONG!!). I'm really just getting into it tonight.

Anyway...enough of my rant. I'll fix it...i like electrical, just no shorts! I need an FSM for a 91, who sells them here? I think i remember someone saying there's a guy/company here that sells them?

Later....back to searching

I have an 1989 you can borrow for free, but I need it back when you are done.

I know it's a RENIX, but maybe it'll have something that can help.

PM me if you need it.

Re: Need 91' FSM...i buy it

I found a place on eBay that sells factory authorized reprints of the original service manuals. The name of the company is Bishko. I think they are around $90 for a new printing.

1993 is OBD-I as well, so you'll be fine. The brackets are 1984-1986 (earliest,) 1987-1990 (RENIX, with a small break 1988/1989,) 1991-1995 (OBD-I,) 1996 (first year OBD-II, last year old body style,) 1997-1999 (OBD-II with distributor,) 2000-2001 (OBD-II with COP/DIS.)

There are some strictly nominal changes from year to year, but nothing you shouldn't be able to sort out.

You da' man! Thanks!!
BTW: where would you start if your XJ blew the engine control fuse (30 amp Maxi under the hood) ONLY on the trails and ONLY on a hill climb?? My motor mounts were shot...replaced them last night. Should help keep thing "still" a bit under torque?

thanks 5-90

Oddly, I'd look for a wiring fault first. You may have a "skinned" wire causing you trouble - so start with a visual inspection.

That's my first impression, anyhow. The hill climb means you're going to have things shifting back, and being on-trail means there's going to be a bit of bumping around to "encourage" things to shift backwards.

i'll give it a try. I'll keep you guys posted

Thanks man

FIXED!!!! I replaced motor mounts (I think this had alot to do with it, THEY WERE SHOT maybe the motor twisting under torque going up hills and pinching wires), cleaned some contacts/connectors, zip tied wires back. I went out Sunday afternoon and hit a few hills climbs SO FAR SO GOOD!!

Maybe this will help someone. Chuckstr PT...Thanks for the tow...i'll get you back....one day...i bet (hope not!)

Thanks to all for the help to all

If I'm not mistaken, 1995 was a split run. I have a 1995, and the dealership asks me if it's OBD-I or II because I went in there looking for a part (forget what off hand) and was informed that they did a split that year between OBDI and OBDII

Hm. Got a source? I only ask because just about everyting I've seen to date shows 1996 as the "official" roll-out year for OBD-II industrywide. I'd think it more likely that some very early 1996 models could be OBD-I than some late 1995 could be OBD-II...

Perhaps anyone with a 1995 with an OBD-II diagnostic port could chime in?
